  • Peaceful and quiet with lots to do

"We enjoyed our stay on Silver Lake in Barnard, VT. The property was clean and well maintained. I especially enjoyed walking to the nearby State Park and the General Store. Barnard is a very friendly community. The independent bookstore and the antique shops in Woodstock and Queechee were my favorite places to shop. Enjoyed seeing a show at the Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction. Hope to stay here again."

  • Stunning Home, Meticulously Kept

"Our family made last minute (five days before our original departure) plans to travel to Vermont after our vacation plans in the Caribbean were interrupted by Hurricane Matthew. In the flurry of trying to make decisions quickly, Zeph and Beverly were extremely prompt and helpful in answering my questions, confirming our reservation and even gave us excellent recommendations for groceries and restaurants on the way from the airport since we arrived in the evening with three small children. We arrived at the house very late so our initial impression was just thankfulness that the lovely home was meticulously clean and well provided with blankets, beds, and portable crib for our baby. However, the next morning my husband turned over and woke me by saying "oh my God!". The view from the master bedroom is spectacular and it was the perfect way to start an incredibly lovely week. We visited during the first week of October and though we aren't as active and mobile as we normally prefer because of our small children (4, 3, 10 months) we were able to enjoy the gorgeous scenery because the windows and views from all three levels of the home are uninhibited. There were no other homes visible from the back view but we were still less than ten minutes from downtown Stowe. It was excellently situated. The post and beam construction of the home was beautiful and again I want to mention how clean and ordered the home is. Unless I am mistaken, this home is Zeph and Beverly's primary residence so the kitchen is well equipped but they still provide that vacation home comfort. Communication with the owners was prompt and clear and they returned our deposit promptly. I highly, highly, highly recommend this area and this home!"

  • Amazing home with incredible hosts!

"Mike and Victoria’s home, elegantly perched in the Vermont Mountains, looked as if it were straight out of a “Home” magazine- one that someone would reference to learn how to redesign a house that perfectly fuses functionality with beauty. If the first drive into the garage were to be of any indication, the fully stocked piles of firewood stood out as one detail of the care that Mike and Victoria had put into making us guests feel welcome and at home. Walking in after our long drive from New York, we were greeted by homemade brownies, a bottle of wine and a welcome card- letting us know that they were pleased to share their home and all of its amenities with us. This welcome card included detailed instructions of how we could figure out the functionalities of the “large-enough-for-all-of-us” hot tub and the “perfect-after-a-cold-day” sauna. Although both looked tempting that first night, we were all exhausted and ready to unpack and settle in. There was more than enough room in the kitchen for us to unload our boxes of fresh food (and the requisite marshmallows for our eventual fireside treat) and with the first (of many) fires warming us from the somehow spacious yet cozy living room, we sat down for our first dinner under the candelabra (with magical candles that evaporated rather than melt!) Sometimes, people put so much effort into the aesthetics of houses, that they forget the agreeability factor, and what makes that house a home. This was not the case with Mike and Victoria. The beautiful bedrooms were as comfortable as they were visually appealing. The multiple beds, all with inviting linen, mattresses, and fluffed pillows, were the perfect way to rest up for the next day of hitting the slopes. Hit the slopes we did, and when we came back weary and weathered, the hot tub and sauna were finally put to their intended use. After spending an hour or so de-thawing in the hot water, we ate warm soup and spent the next bit of time bringing out our competitive spirits with rounds of pool, ping-pong, and air-hockey in the downstairs game-room. These routines continued throughout the weekend; the perfect blend of new activities coupled with the simple pleasure of being in a home (unlike a stale or severe hotel experience) made this Vermont experience at Mike and Victoria’s absolutely irreplaceable. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us! We are all eagerly looking forward to doing it again."

  • Words aren't enough to describe it all...you have to experience it!

"My first experience with Homeaway.com came with the usual beginners' fear and anxiety. But right from the word go, Jonas and his house helped put all that at bay. Everything about this property was perfect. Location, proximity to nature and other attractions, cleanliness and upkeep of the house, amenities provided and prompt communication with clear instructions from Jonas totally deserves the 5 stars rating! We were there to experience the fall colors as a group of 4 couples and a nine-month old and loved every bit of our experience. It is well placed at the foot of the Green Mountains and extremely close to the sceninc Route 100..an ideal drive for fall peepers. It is located close to an old-style town called Woodstock, which has great antiques shops and authentic restaurants. The Quechee Gorge and Killington resort are within driving distance and offer a wide variety of tourist attractions including but not limited to hiking trails, mountain biking, gondola rides, zip-lining, etc. The house offers a great deal of comfort and relaxation after a full day of outdoor activities. The Foosball table and Nintendo Wii in the basement just add to the fun! Ramunto's Pizza is just 10 mins away and offers a wide variety of pizzas made with fresh ingredients. To sum it up, we enjoyed every bit of our two-nights stay and would love to return next fall!"
