  • Great House for Large Groups and Families

"Our group of 10 had a great time at the house this spring. It was close to lots of mountain biking and the yard and deck were fantastic for BBQing and hanging out. The house was clean and as pictured. It had plenty of spaces for everyone to sleep and enjoy a little privacy. The owner was easy to communicate with."

  • Perfect rural Vermont experience for the Summer!

"Our family spent 8 days/7 nights this July in the restored 1900 schoolhouse in Wolcott, VT. Although we have vacationed in VT numerous times over the past 15 years, we have primarily done so in the Burlington area and were looking for something a bit different. Being immersed in the rural beauty of Wolcott and slowing our pace to match the environment was exactly what we had hoped. The property itself was wonderful. The schoolhouse has a lot of character, (e.g., hardwood throughout, interior design with a local artisan-feel), with more than enough space for our family. The country kitchen, breakfast nook, and master bedroom with skylights were highlights of the interior that we specifically enjoyed. As lovely as the home itself was, the yard and mountain views were even better. Our 7 year old loved the trampoline, running around the well-maintained yard, using the tree swing, and relaxing with a book on the porch or on the Adirondack chairs in the yard. The panoramic views of the mountains are really beyond description. Since the property is situated high on a mountain road, views down in the valley with the mountains as the backdrop were gorgeous, especially in the morning and at sunset. The only potential negative for those considering this rental is its general location. It was perfect for our family as we enjoyed hanging around the local Wolcott, Hardwick, and Morrisville area, as well as taking day trips to Stowe/Waterbury, Montpelier, Burlington, and the NorthEast Kingdom, this won't be a good fit for those looking for an exciting 'nightlife' scene, etc. Finally, the property owner could not have been more helpful and welcoming to our family. She was a perfect balance of being engaged during the reservation/rental process while also allowing us to enjoy her home/property on our own. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our time at the schoolhouse, hopefully we'll be able to make this an annual tradition!"

  • Perfect ski house

"We were a group of 12 visiting Vermont from New York. We skiied Stratton on Saturday and Sunday. The house was 10-15 mins from the mountain so it was perfect. All of the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space for everyone to hang out in the common areas. I LOVED the kitchen table that sits 12! We were all able to sit down and enjoy a meal together. The house was very clean when we arrived and Lucy and Mike were great! We would absolutely would rent this property again (hopefully next season)!"

  • Great Spot and Well-designed House

"We spent a month at this property and it had everything we needed. The listing doesn't include pictures of the kitchen and bedrooms so I wondered a little. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed with things (such as a toaster oven) that aren't in the listing. Lots of dishes, platters, bowls, and glasses--all of a quality and aesthetic that make them nice to use. Lots of windows with great light. Bedrooms fine. (A previous reviewer mentioned there wasn't enough light for reading in the downstairs bedroom. We didn't use both bedrooms upstairs so we just moved a small table and light down and then put it all back at the end of our stay.) Outside deck is a dream with a nice table and four comfortable chairs for hanging out. The owner provides excellent directions for finding the property and the roads (the last ~1.5 miles are dirt and stone) are good. Because the house is part-way up Haystack Mountain, it is cooler by about 5 degrees than Wilmington and about 10 degrees cooler than Brattleboro. During hot summer weather this is a bonus, and the house has 5 ceiling fans which help circulate the clean, low-humidity air that Vermont is known for. As is described, this house sits right next to the 3rd tee of a golf course. This didn't seem intrusive and was actually fun to watch. The only downside is that they manicure the grass at 6 AM; light sleepers might bring ear plugs during the golfing season. A bonus is that the local residents sometimes walk on the golf course in the late evening; the paths are great and the views are stunning. There is so much to do within less than an hour and it was nice to come home to such a well-thought-out and comfy spot. The owners were very responsive and made everything easy."
