  • Wonderful Vacation Property

"Wonderful base for our September/October leaf peeping! We spent two and a half weeks at this super clean and comfortable home. Due to the variety of weather we had, we enjoyed the beautiful deck with its high-end grill and also the cozy fireplace. Just wish we had used the firepit; maybe next time, because we would certainly love to return. We have been renting from VRBO/Homeaway for many years in New England and the Outer Banks, and we have never experienced a better stocked pantry/frig. Just about every condiment/spice was provided... so convenient. Even the bathrooms had your basics... shampoo, alcohol, peroxide, bandaids, etc. David was super to work with. The clothes dryer broke while we were there and the next day we had a new dryer in the laundry room! Our four-year-old grandson who was among our guests (all of whom also loved the place) was thrilled with the toys and books provided. There are so many activities in the area, and the beautiful town of Waitsfield is just down the hill. Don't miss their farmer's market on Saturdays... one of the best in the state. The owners have provided brochures on just about everything to do in central and northern Vermont! We would highly recommend this property and hope to come back again."

  • Cozy home, Great for a large group

"Our extended family spent 5 days for a ski vacation at this lovely house. I can't say enough about how perfect this place was for us. It is meticulously clean, very tastefully decorated and has all the conveniences of home. We had 9 people very comfortably situated. The 2 grandchildren were thrilled with the basement level bedroom and all the fun toys/dress up clothes in the play area. The kitchen/dining/living area are perfectly set up for family togetherness and dinners. Hot tub is a welcome relief after a long day of skiing! The owner is a pleasure to deal with and extremely helpful. Very close to Sugarbush. I would not hesitate to rent this property again and I highly recommend it."

  • Cozy, quirky house with very hospitable owners

"We had a great time at the Mad River House. The home owners were great with communication leading up to our visit and throughout. The place is really comfortable, although not pristine--but the owners were upfront about that. We didn't mind, because we were traveling with children, and didn't want to feel like we were staying in a museum. The idea was for everyone to relax. The fireplace was lovely, and we were provided with plenty of warm blankets and pillows. We got in some sledding, great food, and incredible beers. Overall the trip was a success."

  • Well appointed very comfortable home

"My family and I spent 5 nights here mid January. The place is really well maintained and was immaculate upon our arrival. The location is a 5 minute car ride from the base of Mt Ellen at Sugarbush, very convenient. Returning after a day on the slopes was very comforting. The wood stove heats the place nicely and the kitchen is well equiped. A rental with a sharp knife, yes! Walking trails right out the back door, could have been cross country skiing if there was more snow. Overall, a very nice relaxing stay, no downside!"
