  • Perfect weekend getaway

"Me and 7 of my friends from Boston planned this weekend to go apple picking in Vermont and stay overnight. Cara's place definitely exceeded all our expectations. It was clean, beautiful and had a great vibe to it and to top it all her 92 year old dad who who lives in the house next to the barn was the coolest. I recommend this place to everyone going to Vermont, I know I definitely will. Apart from being the cutest house that you will find, it also has great location to move around site seeing in Vermont while having all the basic amenities near by as the house is very well situated in the Town of Chester. As an added incentive, there is a Moon Dog Cafe within 5 min of walk from the house and it is simply amazing!! Make sure to catch some breakfast here."

  • Return stay at a wonderful house close to stratton

"We love staying at this lovely house. The kids love driving over a small narrow bridge onto the small private island which has this house and two others. It is very private, yet close to everything. The house is in great shape, and a perfect layout for families. The kids intricate bunk beds are amazing and like sleeping in a tree house. The loft is perfect for the kids to play games or watch TV's while the adults hang out by the fireplace. Two of the bedrooms have great views which make you feel as if you are right on the river. Rob is very attentive to any issues. We hope to return for a third visit in the near future."

  • Perfect rural Vermont experience for the Summer!

"Our family spent 8 days/7 nights this July in the restored 1900 schoolhouse in Wolcott, VT. Although we have vacationed in VT numerous times over the past 15 years, we have primarily done so in the Burlington area and were looking for something a bit different. Being immersed in the rural beauty of Wolcott and slowing our pace to match the environment was exactly what we had hoped. The property itself was wonderful. The schoolhouse has a lot of character, (e.g., hardwood throughout, interior design with a local artisan-feel), with more than enough space for our family. The country kitchen, breakfast nook, and master bedroom with skylights were highlights of the interior that we specifically enjoyed. As lovely as the home itself was, the yard and mountain views were even better. Our 7 year old loved the trampoline, running around the well-maintained yard, using the tree swing, and relaxing with a book on the porch or on the Adirondack chairs in the yard. The panoramic views of the mountains are really beyond description. Since the property is situated high on a mountain road, views down in the valley with the mountains as the backdrop were gorgeous, especially in the morning and at sunset. The only potential negative for those considering this rental is its general location. It was perfect for our family as we enjoyed hanging around the local Wolcott, Hardwick, and Morrisville area, as well as taking day trips to Stowe/Waterbury, Montpelier, Burlington, and the NorthEast Kingdom, this won't be a good fit for those looking for an exciting 'nightlife' scene, etc. Finally, the property owner could not have been more helpful and welcoming to our family. She was a perfect balance of being engaged during the reservation/rental process while also allowing us to enjoy her home/property on our own. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our time at the schoolhouse, hopefully we'll be able to make this an annual tradition!"

  • Beautiful home with great views

"We had a great stay during Labor Day weekend. The house is very spacious, nicely decorated and very well taken care of. Very well equipped gourmet style kitchen. Great location with a short walking distance to SML. One can walk the street or the back grassy slopes to get to the hotel. Gorgeous views of the mountain and slopes. Kids had a great time in the hot tub and loved the bunk beds. The fall is a great time to visit Stow. Beautiful weather and great restaurants. Thank you Elaine for making our stay very enjoyable. We will come back to visit again."
