  • Perfect rural Vermont experience for the Summer!

"Our family spent 8 days/7 nights this July in the restored 1900 schoolhouse in Wolcott, VT. Although we have vacationed in VT numerous times over the past 15 years, we have primarily done so in the Burlington area and were looking for something a bit different. Being immersed in the rural beauty of Wolcott and slowing our pace to match the environment was exactly what we had hoped. The property itself was wonderful. The schoolhouse has a lot of character, (e.g., hardwood throughout, interior design with a local artisan-feel), with more than enough space for our family. The country kitchen, breakfast nook, and master bedroom with skylights were highlights of the interior that we specifically enjoyed. As lovely as the home itself was, the yard and mountain views were even better. Our 7 year old loved the trampoline, running around the well-maintained yard, using the tree swing, and relaxing with a book on the porch or on the Adirondack chairs in the yard. The panoramic views of the mountains are really beyond description. Since the property is situated high on a mountain road, views down in the valley with the mountains as the backdrop were gorgeous, especially in the morning and at sunset. The only potential negative for those considering this rental is its general location. It was perfect for our family as we enjoyed hanging around the local Wolcott, Hardwick, and Morrisville area, as well as taking day trips to Stowe/Waterbury, Montpelier, Burlington, and the NorthEast Kingdom, this won't be a good fit for those looking for an exciting 'nightlife' scene, etc. Finally, the property owner could not have been more helpful and welcoming to our family. She was a perfect balance of being engaged during the reservation/rental process while also allowing us to enjoy her home/property on our own. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our time at the schoolhouse, hopefully we'll be able to make this an annual tradition!"

  • Very Accommodating

"Our family had a great experience at the Barton house, and the layout accommodated us well. It is true that everything you might need in a kitchen seems to be there! The beds and pillows were comfortable, and there were enough blankets and clean towels for all of us. The two sofas in the living room were a little more roomy than the impression we'd had from the website, so that was nice. Putting two chairs on each end of the dining table, and a booster seat on another chair for the baby, allowed for 10 people seated at the table. There are also 3 picnic tables outside, (and a small patio with patio furniture behind the house). It was a little challenging figuring out where the tableware and plates were, as they were more so in the dining area, rather than in more intuitive spots -- but once we realized, we found plenty of necessary items. We made smores around the small firepit twice, and did plenty of stargazing in that remarkable night sky. While Barton house, and Barton, are definitely in a very rural part of VT, We found the ride to C&C market in Barton to be very convenient...(5-10 min)., and they had everything we needed through the week. Parson's House coffee shop in Barton was also a nice stop for fabulous coffee and great sandwiches. The ride to Crystal lake was also only about 10 min. or so, although we preferred driving a bit further to the Lake Willoughby area where there are several mountain hikes to experience, and some awesome Giffords brand ice cream at Willoughby Lake Store/Millbrook's. The Barton house has a nice small pond which our small children enjoyed with grandpa in the paddleboat; and due to the large field behind the house it looks like it would be a great spot for sledding in the winter. Finally, Gail was super friendly, and that made our experience especially nice. Thank you much!"

  • Suitable for all types of groups, great location

"A big thank you to Mr. Sean Feeney for allowing my group and I to stay at his house, for his immediate responses, and being upfront with us about a situation at the house he was having. He is a genuine home owner and puts his guests above his own gain. We stayed during MLK weekend in 2016. The house was in a great location. About 15 minutes from the Ski Resort, a restaurant/tavern within walking distance, and a great general store and gas station a little bit more up the road in Pittsfield where finding products was quick and easy. There was plenty of room for everyone and the view from the deck made you feel like you were away from it all to relax but close enough to it all at the same time. The driveway was plowed after a snow fall and trash was picked up by the keeper of the house in a timely fashion as well. All signs Sean and his friends make it a top priority to keep the house in the best shape possible. If this house is available, take advantage !"

  • Rest and Relaxation

"Extremely neat and clean. Everything was exactly as stated in the description. The basement was bigger than we anticipated. The boys stayed for a couple of days and they enjoyed their privacy and rooms. The river was beautiful, nice sitting area in the afternoon. We brought our two pups with us, kept them leashed when we were outside. Kitchen was perfect. Thank you for sharing your home with us."
