  • Not West Virginia...but, almost Heaven!

"I'm so happy I stumbled upon "Riversong" on VRBO when planning our trip to Abingdon, Virginia. From my first contact with the homeowner to our arrival date; I never waited more than 15 minutes for a response. Riversong is a sweet little farmhouse; very comfortable, well appointed and fully equipped for our family. The farm and grounds were great fun for all of us to roam. We really enjoyed the goats and the game room was an added bonus. I truly suppose my favorite thing about the farm was sitting out around the fire pit, listening to the river flowing and counting the magnificent stars above. Already planning our next trip to the area....would not think of staying any place else."

  • Very nice home!

"Our family was in Virginia for a wedding. There were 13 of us total that came from out of state. We were supposed to all stay in one house together. However, the house could only accommodate 12 people. We were a little upset that the 5 of us would have to stay somewhere else. Imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered that our home was much nicer than the one in which the rest of the family stayed! The home was modern, clean and well stocked. I loved the view of the lake from the back balcony. I sat outside enjoying the scenery and quiet each morning before the rest of the house woke up. Should we find ourselves in Virginia again we would definitely stay here again. I would also highly recommend it to others."

  • Lovely dog-friendly get away

"The cabin was cozy, clean, and well-appointed. My dogs, Domino and Scrappy enjoyed the open space to run and explore. We walked a few miles on the New River Trail each morning -- really breathtaking -- and I kayaked in the afternoon, taking in the wildlife and mountain scenery. The cabin was just a couple miles from both, with multiple access points to both the trail and the river. Evenings I read on the front porch swing while the dogs played and watched the neighbor cut, turn, and bale hay across the little valley. Temps in the low 80's during the days and mid 60's at night in Mid-September made for a perfect vacation. Be aware, if you are dependent on your smart phones, that e-mail and internet access didn't work in this hollow, but I was able to make calls and message on my Verizon service. I was able to connect with the cabin wifi for the first day, but was then blocked because the bill hadn't been paid. I almost marked down one star for that, but decided it was a blessing in disguise that I couldn't respond to work e-mail. We'll be back"

  • Incredible view and peaceful serenity!

"We have stayed at Laurel Point for many years in a row. It's a wonderful location for us to meet up with close friends and enjoy time together. The house is spacious with room for our families with children. We spend hours in the kitchen preparing meals for each other, sampling local wines, and enjoying the view from the deck. We have visited the house in the winter for New Years and late summer. The view is just as stunning in the winter! If you go in mid-winter, a four wheel or all-wheel vehicle is handy just in case there is any winter weather on the country roads. Or extend your stay until the roads thaw and enjoy the house! There are great hikes close to the house for all seasons. On each visit we have found something new in the area. We are continually surprised to find new and exciting places to explore. The kids love spending most of their time outdoors on hikes or watching the butterflies in the garden at the house. We always visit the Floyd Country Store to hear the local music and talk with the locals. Laurel Point is a peaceful retreat into the country and the perfect setting for our reunions with friends and family."
