  • Super Quiet, Fun Place to Stay

"We loved our stay in the caboose. It was a great space and had everything we needed. It was quiet, scenic, different, and just enough off the beaten path to help us get away as we were traveling from South Carolina to Pennsylvania. Some considerations if you're looking at this property: * It is about 20 - 25 minutes off the interstate. It's an easy and scenic drive, but it will add to your travel time. We realized this in advance, but didn't mind that it got us away from the hotels / motels that only offer views of passing traffic. * Cell reception isn't great. Again, for us, this was a plus not a negative. It may be important for some others. We got sporadic reception, but not consistent. * Pick up things you need before you go. As I mentioned it's a bit off the interstate, but the cabooses have the capacity to do some cooking and there are small refrigerators, so it's easy if you bring something for dinner or breakfast during your stay. I highly recommend this place. The owners are on the property if you need them, but they aren't invasive or anything like that. The view from the deck or the swings is amazing. It really was one of the greatest finds we've had on our "we need a place to sleep overnight" explorations."

  • A peaceful place with amazing views!

"We had a wonderful time on our visit. Ken and Sharon are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They started by giving great detailed directions as this cabin is off the path. However road is newly paved right to the door. Upon arrival they met us with a dozen of fresh eggs from their farm which we enjoyed. We used this cabin for a thanksgiving vacation with cooking there for a family of 4 and it was perfect. The property and the views were amazing. Waking up looking over the lake at the mountain was priceless. Cabin had everYthing you could need. There is a gas station within distance and a small diner but when coming through Mt Airy I would suggest doing your shopping. Mt. Airy is close and go see the downtown area,we really Liked the museum and it was only $6a person. Lots to see if you want to venture around but if not stay at cabin and is most relaxing place you will find. We never thought of going to the area but now we are already planning a summer visit as well. If you go you well enjoy it we felt like we were at home with family not in a rental."

"This cabin was the perfect family vacation spot my family needed. Upon arrival the cabin is very clean and packed with evey kitchen appliance you could ever think of. The owner even left items that they knew most people forget when they are grocery shopping. Every room was beautifully decorated with nice soft sheets and beautiful bedding. We all slept like babies at night and refreshed in the morning. Even the children's room with bunk beds had the most beautiful comforters and enough entertainment for the little ones where they wouldn't come of the room. I haven't seen lincoln logs since i was kid but the cabin was stocked with them for the young ones. The most spectacular part of this cabin is the views. We sat on the porch and watched the rain coming in from a distance before it even got to the cabin. It was just amazing. Every morning we would cook breakfast and sit on the porch and watch the humingbirds feed, eagles flying over, the most colorful butterflies and take in the fresh mountain air. At night you could see the lights from the city in the distance. I would definitely come back and would recommend for anyone. You will love it."
