Elegant and comfortable manor, perfect for our family reunion.
"We enjoyed a 6-day stay at Stoneleigh as relatives gathered for a family reunion. The spacious mansion easily accommodated 12 adults and 4 children. And we were able to host many more for some of our mealtime gatherings. The kitchen is very modern and well-equipped for preparing grand meals. We needed all 6 burners and 2 ovens, and made good use of the butler’s pantry. The kitchen is also a delightful sunny room for just hanging out. My wife especially appreciated starting her day with superb coffee from the Keurig. I happened to have toured many of America’s grand mansions recently (including the Biltmore estate in North Carolina and several of the Newport mansions). I never expected to have an opportunity to rent a house as grand as Stoneleigh. It is truly a dream come true. The furnishings are fairly simple (for such a luxurious estate), but very comfortable. There are many spaces for just lounging. The pool table was an extra treat for me. While all of the rooms are charming and seem to have excellent beds, my wife and I were fortunate to enjoy the luxury of the penthouse bedroom and deluxe bathroom -- the Jacuzzi tub was heavenly. The grounds and formal gardens are fun to explore, and very entertaining for the kids. It would be great to come back and see them in full bloom. Cindy was the perfect gracious, attentive and responsive host. She gave us a wonderful tour of the building when we arrived, including lots of history. She lives nearby in the historic home where she grew up, so she is a wonderful source of information about local history and attractions. Following her suggestions, we enjoyed hiking a trail along the Smith River, and wine tasting at Hamlet Vineyards (just a stone’s throw from Stoneleigh)."
