  • This is a beautiful, mesmerizing setting. The cabin is perfectly situated on the hillside.

    Lois K.

"Wonderful place to go for a small family getaway! The home is well stocked with all appliances, cookware, glassware, linens, etc. that is needed! We cooked a very bountiful Thanksgiving meal and had everything we needed. Dr. Mitchell was a pleasure to work with! He was very available to answer all of our questions beforehand. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area and we were so happy that our family pet was a welcomed guest! Yes...the creek was his favorite spot! "Journeys End" is a wonderful place to get away from it all!!"

  • Amazing panoramic views of the mountains

    Brian W.

"The cabin was very clean and decorated quite nicely. There was character and comfort from the books on the bookshelf to the warm blankets while you sit on the back porch watching the sunset. We stayed for two nights but I could have stayed forever. I brought my children out for the first time and they had a wonderful time, at ages 4 and 6 they were able to recognize the beautiful views and appreciate the serenity. We will definitely be coming back."

  • Beautiful, breathtaking views in every direction.

    Sharon

"We rented this lovely, immaculately maintained home for a "girls getaway" though all four of us are 71 years old! The house and grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and we picked vegetables from the garden for our dinner and had eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast. The pond is only a short walk from the house and on one early morning walk two of us were beyond excited when we saw a bear going up the hill on the opposite side of the pond. Wanda and Wes were great hosts and suggested out of the ordinary places to visit as well as some of the more well known sites in Franklin, Floyd, and Rockbridge Counties. We hiked in the mountains, danced at the Floyd County Store on a Friday night, visited the Spikenard Honey Bee Sanctuary, and oohed and aahed over the breathtaking scenery wherever we went. We couldn't have chosen a more luxurious place to bask in the beauty of nature."

  • Elegant and comfortable manor, perfect for our family reunion.

    Charles K.

"We enjoyed a 6-day stay at Stoneleigh as relatives gathered for a family reunion. The spacious mansion easily accommodated 12 adults and 4 children. And we were able to host many more for some of our mealtime gatherings. The kitchen is very modern and well-equipped for preparing grand meals. We needed all 6 burners and 2 ovens, and made good use of the butler’s pantry. The kitchen is also a delightful sunny room for just hanging out. My wife especially appreciated starting her day with superb coffee from the Keurig. I happened to have toured many of America’s grand mansions recently (including the Biltmore estate in North Carolina and several of the Newport mansions). I never expected to have an opportunity to rent a house as grand as Stoneleigh. It is truly a dream come true. The furnishings are fairly simple (for such a luxurious estate), but very comfortable. There are many spaces for just lounging. The pool table was an extra treat for me. While all of the rooms are charming and seem to have excellent beds, my wife and I were fortunate to enjoy the luxury of the penthouse bedroom and deluxe bathroom -- the Jacuzzi tub was heavenly. The grounds and formal gardens are fun to explore, and very entertaining for the kids. It would be great to come back and see them in full bloom. Cindy was the perfect gracious, attentive and responsive host. She gave us a wonderful tour of the building when we arrived, including lots of history. She lives nearby in the historic home where she grew up, so she is a wonderful source of information about local history and attractions. Following her suggestions, we enjoyed hiking a trail along the Smith River, and wine tasting at Hamlet Vineyards (just a stone’s throw from Stoneleigh)."
