  • Amazing views, seculded mountain paradise

"The cabin is in an excellent location away from it all. In the middle of the woods without a single man made structure in sight. We loved the fire pit at night. A short drive to Devils Backbone Brewery and Sherando Lake for swimming made for a great weekend. Eric was easy to work with and took extra care to make sure we had a great stay. Highly recommend."

  • Perfect lake house getaway

"I stayed here for a weekend celebrating my birthday with some friends. The lake house was perfect for our needs. It is right on the lake, has a big backyard and outdoor deck. It comes with outside grill, pots&pans, and basic cooking needs so you don't have to leave the house at all. But if you wanted to, this place is a short drive away from Mariners landing and Kings Point Pub. The house is located at a quiet location and pretty secluded which was great. A very big plus is the long driveway. We had about 8 people stayed for the weekend and most of us drove separately but there was no trouble in parking at all. Getting in and out of the place was easy. The only thing that's a little inconvenient was that the dumpster is off-site and a little bit of a drive (10-15 min drive) but the owner gave us a clear direction that you can't miss it. Overall, my stay was enjoyable, making the reservation/getting in contact with the owner was very easy, and the property was outstanding so I would go back again and recommend this place to everyone!"

  • Connecting the Dots

"Today we traveled to Etlan, Virginia where we spent the weekend at Sun Dancer. The property where Spirit Dancer, Sun Dancer and Star Dancer Lodges are located borders on the Shenandoah National Park. This weekend we had no cell phone or Internet connections. These days, we are all used to instant connection via mobile phone or computer. It is technology that makes this possible but when technology is unavailable, we are forced to connect in ways that rely only on face-to-face time where spaces are filled with hugs, discussions and actually doing things together. At night I went outside, listened to the silence above, and saw more stars than I could count. Looking up, I felt a connection to these distant bright balls of gas that inspired people long ago to create pictures and stories by connecting the dots in the sky. Other humans far away also look up at these distant points of light and, like me, are awed. In a way, during our lifetime, we are all our own stars secured to the earth by gravity and given the task of connecting the dots, the spaces among ourselves. My father once asked my husband about his philosophy of afterlife. My husband told him he believes we are made of stardust and that when we die, we become part of the universe. "The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” ~ Carol Sagan What a gift we had this past weekend--millions of points of light."

  • Family Vacation

"Our family was looking for a relaxing vacation spot to de stress and enjoy time together. Everyone had a great time. The house is adorable and had plenty of room for all of us. The views of the lake from the dock were amazing. Although we were all refreshed from our time spent at Blue Water Retreat we hated to leave and decided we would definitely be back next year.....hopefully for a little longer!"
