    "My wife and I have used VRBO multiple times in various states. This was by far our favorite. It is a small house but the inside is well furnished. The river is amazing. It's quiet and peaceful. The host Charlie was great Probably the most polite helpful host we have ever encountered. This weekend was for snowboarding at wintergreen which was not good but the cabin made up for it. I will more than likely be back next moth nor two for some fishing and quite time. And our dogs loved it. GREAT PLACE. look forward to staying again very soon. Thanks Charlie and Pettis!!!"

  • From the moment we arrived until we reluctantly departed our experience at Concord Manor was amazing

    "We have a group of 9 couples that gather annually for a college football weekend reunion. The main house was a perfect balance of charming, Virginia hospitality and modern convenience. We never ran out of hot water, the beds were very comfortable. The house had several sitting areas that allowed us to either sit and visit as a whole or break in to smaller cozy groups. A HUGE fire pit in the back yard gave the guys a chance to catch up and swap "tall tales". The kitchen was very well-equipped and roomy enough for all the "cooks" to congregate, discuss and finally prepare meals. Bill, the property owner, was so gracious and greeted us upon arrival. He made us feel right at home as he gave us a brief tour of the huge home and a few tips on how to best enjoy its features. The only downside of this rental experience is that we only had 4 days to enjoy it. We could certainly have enjoyed an extended stay! We would highly recommend Concord Manor House to anyone looking for an exceptional vacation rental. We visited in mid-November but would love an excuse to come back in the summer to more fully utilize and enjoy the extensive grounds and outdoor accomodations!"

  • The home was very nice and well represented by the pictures on the website.

    "Our family enjoyed our stay. Plenty of bedrooms and baths for our group of nine. The setting was nice with a country atmosphere but still close enough to stores and restaurants. The only thing I would change is to add a tv or two."

  • Peaceful Retreat

    "Pros: Beautiful, peaceful setting. Plenty of bedrooms for a large family or group. Decent kitchen (Like most VRBOs, the only thing missing was a colander!) Nice large deck with dining table and chairs. Hammock next to river - lovely. Near by orchard was great - we made a nice dinner on grill with meat and peaches from orchard, and enjoyed eating it on the deck. Owner very helpful and responsive to emails. Cons: House smelled very musty and smokey when we first arrived. Got a bit better after running a/c for awhile, but smokey, musty smelled never went away. Garage especially stayed very musty. We opened windows when it was cool enough and not raining, but that didn't help much. The sheets in our bedroom (over garage) also smelled musty. Being next to a river, more de-humidifiers would have been helpful. (Based on other reviews, most people did not find the odor bothersome.) Cushions to outdoor furniture were in locked shed. The shed looked like it was dusty inside so we didn't bother trying to locate the key. As expected, it's a long drive to a grocery store. Fortunately we didn't need to cancel, but I found it odd that one would receive a larger refund for cancelling CLOSER to the rental date. (20 or more days prior to Occupancy: 50% Refund Within 20 days prior to Occupancy: 75% Refund)"
