  • Great home, great location.

"Great, clean home on SML. We were a group of three couples and stayed very comfortably. The deck provided a great view and most of our time was spent on it while at the house. We took the basement master as we had two dogs and could keep them away from our friends during the night. This home is the perfect layout for two families, with children, vacationing together. The Parnell’s were so easy to work with and I would definitely recommend this vacation home."

  • Home away from home

"My husband and I have been coming here for 2 years now. When I know I'm coming, I pack the weekend before because I am so excited to get here. I feel so grateful that Nancy and Phil allow us to bring our fur babies. I love how they have kayaks for us to use, near State Park, screen in porch. It is perfect size for my husband and I. Cozy and comfortable!!! One of my favorite places to come!! Thank you Nancy and Phill for giving us a " home away from home""

  • RELAX--a little piece of heaven!

"We truly enjoyed the serenity of this cabin. As the sign in the kitchen window said--"RELAX"--we did just this! We enjoyed the screened in deck where we had breakfast every morning, and played cards each night. It was so peaceful. We had a great week at this cabin from start to finish! Alice, the owner, was wonderful to work with in making reservations and was really quick to reply. She answered all of our questions and gave us great tips (i.e. where to shop, etc). We loved the location of this cabin--in a small little nook in the back of a cove which kept the water so calm and this made for easier kayaking (brought our own kayak)! We could see and enjoy Smith Mountain from the dock. The guys tried fishing from the dock all week and basically just fed the fish! :) We saw lots of fish around the dock (the water is so clear), but none of them were biting! (Suggest you get your fishing license ahead of time--not many places to get one near the cabin). The deck was partially covered and this was a bonus for when it got really hot. We took advantage of the 2 floors with one couple staying upstairs and the other downstairs-it was nice to have 2 full baths! Everything was so clean and in working order. We had everything we needed in the fully stocked kitchen and took advantage of the propane grill-which was a little tricky to get lit. We took turns washing dishes since there was no dishwasher--wasn't a problem for us at all, we made it work. We were grateful to have the full size washer and dryer available to us in the basement-these came in real handy. During the middle of the week we checked out the lake using a pontoon boat we had rented from Mitchell's Marina before we got there (which is basically just around the corner from the cabin) and had a great time--they were very easy to work with, but I highly recommend you book with them early. We also went hiking at Smith Mountain Lake Park which was about a 15 min drive--a really nice park with some trails on the water's edge and it had a swimming beach (a small fee to park $4). We were sorry we had to leave when our time was up---we definitely want to make it back again to this little piece of heaven!"
