  • Perfect Lake Cottage

"We really enjoyed our stay at Pop's Pleasure. The cottage is very clean, nicely furnished, and tastefully decorated. We especially loved the screened porch that runs the length of the back of the house and has wonderful views of the lake. The porch is even larger than it appears online and with the ceiling fan and breeze off the lake is quite comfortable even on hot days. The kitchen is well equipped with just about anything you might need. The TV upstairs has cable, and there is a second TV downstairs, along with a good selection of DVDs.There are also games and a foosball table downstairs. We had four kids with us ranging from 9 to teen and they all had a great time. The swimming and fishing off the dock was a lot of fun for all ages. When entering the water using the dock step ladder closest to shore, the depth of the water ranged from upper thigh to waist deep while we were there. There is a good sized area near the step ladder where our 9-year-old could stand up, but the depth of the water increases quickly as you head towards the end of the dock. A big plus is that there is sand where you step into the water (not mud) which makes for a very pleasant swimming experience. We also rented a boat for part of the time and it was so convenient to be able to dock it at the house. We highly recommend this cottage and would definitely rent it again."

  • "This Place is Paradise"

"The quote in the title came from my 7 year old grandson but I'm sure it was agreed with by the eleven others in our party. The sleeping accommodations fitted our family perfectly and the beautiful kitchen made meal preparation easy. Having two large refrigerators was also a plus. When we entered the house on the first day we could tell it was well cared for by the owner and we aimed to keep it that way. Tom's pre-arrival correspondence was "spot on" as to how to find the keys and he provides a a very informative notebook on both the house and the Smith Mountain Lake area. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and were busy all week with tube riding, fishing and swimming. The dock area is furnished with all sorts of water toys including kayaks, paddleboards, noodles, life vests and an umbrella which is a big help during the heat of the day. Tom also provides basketballs and tennis rackets/balls for those who are so inclined although the heat index was in the three figures while we were there. I can't imagine a property that is better stocked with amenities or an owner who is more accommodating. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary while there with our family and all agreed we couldn't have picked a better place. Highly recommend."

  • Great View. Spacious House. Great Hosts.

"Beautiful and spacious vacation rental house. Excellent spot on the lake. Close to Bridgewater Plaza by boat. Beautiful view from the back deck. Kathy and Spike were great to work with and answered all our questions. We will definitely stay at this location again if we go to Smith Mountain Lake in the future."

  • Great house and great location.

"There was a lot of room to spare as there was only my husband and I on this trip. Lots of options for large families. It's great to see an owner truly try to keep a rental home in good condition. It's a shame owners don't get the same respect from their renters."
