  • Nice House

"Our stay at your house was very nice, pictures and descriptions were very accurate. We were there over Thanksgiving and cooked a huge meal, the kitchen was very well equipped so we found everything we needed. Master bedroom was great, loved the sleep number bed, two bedrooms downstairs were nice, the bedroom on the main level would be nice to have a queen or even a king in that bedroom, the twin beds were so uncomfortable that my son slept on the couch after the first night. The weather was warmer then usual for this time of year so we were able to go down to the dock, great view and very peaceful (my dad even said something about maybe coming back in the summer time). The location of the house has its good and bad points, good is it is close to grocery store, wineries and restuarants, bad is the long gravel road drive to the house but not so bad to take a star away!! ;). Thanks again for renting out your house, we had a great time!!"

  • Beautiful private setting and relaxing property on gorgeous Smith Mountain Lake

"This is one of the absolute best lots on Smith Mountain Lake. We had a terrific time at Beach Retreat and enjoyed our spectacular views from the house's wonderful sun room, deck, and the incredible huge covered dock that is one of kind. Loved the private beach area and the fire pit at night. We spent most of our time on the massive dock and just relaxed and took in the beauty. The owners were fabulous and made us feel right at home. We'll definitely be back."

  • Fantabulous (Fantastic location and awesome facility)

"We spent three days for this New year -2017 and our stay has been really pleasant. There were 16 (including kids) of us in the main house and Cedar cabin. This property has great lake front and views, well maintained, great recreation facilities for kids considering winter season, plenty of room, great open floor plan in the main house;. We had a blast and kids have started missing this Vacation house. We are planning to visit again during summer. Jim - the manager and owner of the property was a great guy and was cooperative helping us out in all ways to make our stay as pleasant as possible. I am going to recommend this vacation house to all my friends and colleagues."

  • This home was enjoyable and we will be returning!!

"This is our second-year vacationing at Smith Mountain Lake, first time in this home. We loved it so much we will be returning here again! We spent two weeks in this home. We were a family of 6; Myself, my husband, our two kids (1 & 3 years old) and our parents (the Grandparents). This home was perfect for every one of us. The backyard slope was gentle enough that we could play backyard games on it. The walk up from the water wasn’t too steep. The grands managed well. However, the walkway I felt could use some upkeep. The dock and water life was GREAT! We loved the fact that the little room (on the dock) was available for us to use and even the fridge! Makes it easy to keep snacks and drinks easily accessible. The table on the dock was very convenient. The sandy beach area was perfect for our kids- they had a blast! The only complaint would be regarding the steps leading from the dock to the beach; they were a little unstable but not a deal breaker. The kitchen is the heart to a home making it one of the most important rooms to a house. I have only but good things to review. It was spacious and well maintained, it came equipped with just what we needed to cook & eat our meals. The window over the sink overlooking the lake along with the updated countertop were added luxuries! The spare bedroom with the full bed was a little warm to sleep in. However, this may have been contributed to the problem we had with the air conditioner. ¾ of the way through our trip the AC drain hose became clogged and caused a leak over the washer and dryer and onto the basement floor. The repair man said the AC filter hadn’t been changed in years and contributed to the clogged pipe. Positive remark on the matter – Homeaway’s property manager had the problem fixed and repaired with their on-call contractor within hours. ALL, VERY PROFESSIONAL. The dryer was useless, did not dry and was in desperate need of a new one. End conclusion; this home was enjoyable and we will be returning!!"
