  • Perfect for large groups, great location for hiking and exploring

"This home served as the location for the annual mountain getaway for my group of friends. This house had plenty of room and bedrooms for all the couples and the living/dining/kitchen areas were perfectly sized for sharing meals and playing games next to a crackling fire! The location was great for exploring local breweries and cideries and was walking distance to picturesque hiking trails. Wintergreen and this house in particular were the perfect backdrops for a relaxing weekend vacation!"

  • Great extended family Christmas getaway!

"We just returned from a week's stay in this beautiful home and I can't say enough about it. The owner was fantastic to work with from beginning to end, and always very quick to respond. The photos don't do the house justice. It's gorgeous down to the tiniest details! The kitchen has everything you might need, and there are DVDs and VHS tapes as well as a plethora of magazines and books to satisfy almost anyone's tastes. Wintergreen Resort was very nice as well. We had 2 families of 4 people each and 2 grandparents, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is well insulated and the noise from one floor couldn't be heard on another floor. The views are spectacular. If we lived closer, we'd definitely be back on a regular basis. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away with a large family group."

  • Gorgeous views and fantastic location!

"We were traveling with 5 adults and 8 children. There was plentry of room in this home for all of us. We loved the spacious well appointed kitchen. We used the fireplace the entire weeked and there was plenty of firewood available for us. The house has the most gorgeous views of any home we have rented thus far in Wintergreen. The ywo level deck was amazing. The house was very close to great hikes. We would definitely stay here again."

  • Perfect cottage for family hiking trip - Old Rag Mountain

"Our family rented the Tucker'd Out cottage for two nights and found it to be cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we could ask for! The property itself is fabulous - with breathtaking views of Old Rag Mountain and lots of land to explore. We particularly liked the location - very close to the parking lot for Old Rag and not far from White Oak Canyon. The kitchen - which does not have a full oven - was perfect for our needs. We prepared all our meals each day and were surprised to find everything we needed and a few extras we didn't expect - like napkins, salt and pepper, olive oil, zip lock bags and aluminum foil. We certainly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! We used the charcoal grill one night, which was wonderful. And we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. The upstairs living area and bedroom were perfect for the kids! The couches up there are comfy and there is plenty of room for them to sleep. You could comfortably sleep six or more in the house - but with only one bathroom and one dining area, I would not advise more than six. We were surprised when we read the guest book and learned the property has been rented out for several years - You would think it's brand new with the way it is maintained. Everything was in great condition - nothing in need of repair or even looking worn. The linens were fresh and clean, the furniture was in great shape and the whole cottage looked well taken care of. The owners were great to work with - giving me directions and answering questions in advance. Thanks to Peggy's direction, we stopped at Food Lion on Rt 29 on the way to the cottage from Charlottesville for groceries. We have two teenagers and a tween - so a few days without internet or satellite was just what we needed to connect as a family without distractions. We played games and poker (we brought our own but they actually had poker chips and cards) and watched a DVD (there are tons of them at the house!). We wanted to use the corn hole boards and ladder toss but we didn't have time. We would have liked having internet to check the weather and use Google Maps but we managed just fine without that luxury. Thank you for a wonderful spring break. We would love to come back again!"
