  • The Crab Shack is a PRECIOUS GEM!

"This cottage is a true gem in every way. We had the best of times that we pictured ourselves living there! The furniture is amazing! Done with so much taste, I couldn’t help but notice how everything blended together and matched as if I was in a furniture showroom! We loved the leather sofa and chairs, how the TV had a mount so you could move it to wherever you can see best. We could even watch TV from bed! The telescope… we were literally keeping an eye on our rod tips from the inside of the cottage!! The decoration was mind blowing: the clamshell wall in the family room and the big glass bowl with hundreds of wine bottle corks! The pictures of crab fishermen and the big poster for Jimmy and Sook artistically constructed with the little shiny mosaic pieces! We are in love with this cottage and every little corner in it. While you’re there look up at the fans, even the fans match the décor!! You can see the water from every corner of this cottage! Even from the kitchen!! And the water is so close, we slept with the shutters up to see the sparkling water just a few feet from our bed till we fell asleep. We’d wake up to the same view in the morning! Even though the bed is super comfortable, we minimized our sleep to 6 hours a night because we couldn’t help but maximize our fun time! We’re addicted to fishing, so we were like kids in a candy store, stepping outside and fishing within seconds! Andy even has 2 rod holders set on the dock and there is a water tap too. We caught a drum fish, a small striper, several white perch on spinners, over a dozen crabs and the highlight of our trip was the huge stingray we caught on our first night there! She was massive, the two of us could barely lift the net to pull her out of the water and the fight was amazing! She took in so much line, we had no idea what we were getting. It was dark and we shined a light at the water when we had finally got her close to the dock and there she was whipping her tail!!! Andy is a darling, he saved no effort to perfect our stay! He was always one phone call away whenever we needed to ask him something and he was genuinely interested in making sure that we were happy. We’ll definitely be back and recommend the Crab Shack to anyone who wants to experience a waterfront cottage that’s truly special in every way!"

  • Great weekend stay!

"My boyfriend and I bought a boat in June 2016 and are new to boating. Being that we don't live close to the Chesapeake Bay (our favorite fishing waterway) and have to tow our boat over an hour, we are always on the look out for a marina that offers on-site lodging. This was the perfect place! The two of us and my boyfriends son stayed for the weekend. The cabin was clean, nicely decorated and just steps away from the marina. We were able to easily launch our boat at the boat ramp and put it in our assigned covered slip. The next morning as soon as the sun came up, we were on the water and in The Bay in minutes! The marina is just minutes by car to local stores and eateries too.The cabins kitchen is nicely equipped and had what we needed to cook our catch (including crabs we caught in our pots we put in the water at the marina). It was very peaceful and has beautiful views at sunrise as well as sunset. Captain Billy answered all of our fishing questions and Mary was very accommodating. We totally enjoyed our stay and will be back!"

  • Terrific Winter Escape

"Really fantastic trip for a cold weekend getaway. The house is perfectly situated with unobstructed views of the water. Really cozy and has all the essentials. Downtown Mathews County was hosting a Christmas parade that we happened upon, was very charming and unexpected! Plenty of things to down on Main Street, had delicious dinner one night at White Dog Bistro and lunch at Southwind Cafe. Cool vintage/antique shops as well. If you're looking for one of the best meals in a clandestine spot outside of town, Merroir is definitely worth the drive! Closer to the property, we had fun just driving around the island and checking out the sleepy town. Be sure to use the binoculars provided by the host to spy waterfowl just outside your window."
