  • Simply Amazing! Could not have asked for a better vacation.

"After vacationing for the the last 8 years in Nags Head, NC my family and the 3 other families that we vacation with decided to change our venue to the James Ross River Plantation. We are so glad that we did. The place is simply amazing. Boating, fishing, crabbing, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, miniature golf, Busch Gardens, Water Country, etc.; we did it all. The property is within an hour drive of Williamsburg, VA which has unlimited entertainment options if you care to leave for awhile. However, the property itself offers so much there really is no reason to leave. The air-conditioned pool house was our favorite spot during the week as the heat and humidity were ridiculous. The indoor pool is enormous and the kids had an absolute blast. The boathouse was also a nice treat as it housed a complimentary kayak, canoe and life vests for all of us to use. We also brought an additional kayak and two paddle boards so we all spent many evenings on Robinson's Creek paddling around. The boathouse could easily accommodate 2 large boats and we will definitely be bringing our boat next year. The main house was extremely comfortable and was suitable for our group of 8 adults and 8 kids. There were enough beds for 14 and we brought two twin air mattresses. The kitchen offers everything you need to prepare meals (which we did every night) and the HUGE outside grill was utilized regularly as well. The living room area was very comfortable and the kids congregated there most nights to watch movies. There were tons of board games available to us as well. The home was clean and comfortable and we were very pleased with it's condition considering it's age. The Adirondack chairs and hammock overlooking Robinson's Creek were fantastic and they were utilized each morning and evening. Linda St. George was fantastic and easy to work with. A SEVERE storm came through during our stay and she reached out to us to warn us ahead of time and then checked in with us the next day to make sure we were ok. We highly recommend the James Ross River Plantation and we know you will not be disappointed."

  • A lovely waterfront retreat

"A friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at the cottage. The views are beautiful; we enjoyed the air conditioned comfort of the sunroom, the covered porch with ceiling fan and the lovely dock. The cottage is clean and well-equipped. Gloucester Main Street is a short drive with restaurants, shops and a great massage place. Pam was very easy to work with - we will return!"

  • Family Easter Gathering at Pop Castle

"We recently came back from our Pop Castle getaway. We were 6 adults and 3 young children in our Easter gathering. We had a great time. When we drove up to the house and saw the house and the view we were very excited and couldn't wait to get started on our exploration of the grounds. The house is beautiful , and we had plenty of room for all of us. The entire house was decorated very beautifully and uniquely. We all enjoyed exploring the many mementos in every room that appeared to come from all over the world. So very interesting. The full length screened back porch is where we shared most of our meals. It was a favorite room to have early morning coffee or late night snacks. It had a long table that could more than accommodate our big crowd. The owners were even very thoughtful in providing a high chair for our little guy. We had perfect weather, so all of our time was spent outside thoroughly enjoying the spectacular beauty of the grounds and the Rappahanock River. We brought many outside activities, and we realized we probably didn't have to because the garage was well stocked with many activities. We spent only one day away from the house for a trip to Busch Gardens. It was an hour away, and we had a great time. We were very glad, however, that that was the only day we spent away from Pop Castle, because we really were able to enjoy our relaxed, fun stay at the house. We had a fantastic Easter egg hunt!!!!! The places for the bunny to hide the eggs was limitless!! Our grandchildren had soooooo much fun. It will be an egg hunt to remember for a long time !!! The location was perfect. When we were outside it was so secluded that you felt you were the only one around for miles. Yet we were only a short ride into the towns of White Stone and Kilmarnock that had a good variety of shopping and restaurants. The owner, Walid, provided a listing of restaurants for take out that we tried and were delighted with. We also did a lot of cooking in the well stocked kitchen- complete with dishes, pots and spices. Thank you, Walid, for all those tips and for your quick response to any of our inquiries. Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful home with us."
