  • Perfect House and Location

"My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway, and would absolutely rent it again. The house is beautiful, new, and very clean. It had games, beach chairs, pool floats, and game tables. The pool was so close to the house and the beach was such a short drive. The owners were extremely pleasant to work with. It was absolutely perfect, and we would highly recommend this property."

  • Fantastic

"The house was very clean and very spacious. We really large kitchen and the sun room in the back. The only minor issue was that the AC in one of the upstairs bedrooms wasn't able to keep up with the heat outside (it was a very hot week). Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the house and Cape Charles."

  • Just as the description said.

"I have rented various properties in different locations through VRBO. This house was the best with supplies. This may seem trivial but there was hand soap at every sink, plenty of ice cubes ready in trays( sure an ice maker would be nice). Well stocked kitchen. This historical home was charming. Thankfully they upgraded with air conditioning, Internet, & cable tv. Impressed with Chesapeake Properties that managed the reservation. My first visit to Cape Charles. It was so quaint. Chesapeake Bay beach is great. I didn't have as much time to enjoy it, as I was there for a golf tournament at Bay Creek Resort. We ate at Oyster Farm Eatery & Shanty's. Would have eaten at Hook u Up, but they only serve dinner Tuesday- Friday. If this is peak summer season, I will say it is very low key. Some businesses are only open Wednesdays - Saturdays. There are no major brand restaurants or stores in the area. Frankly, I enjoyed that."

  • Small Cottage Near Beach

"This is a small cottage near the beach on the ocean side of the main road (Pacific Ave.). There are a number of good things about the house as well as some bad. But overall we enjoyed it and we'd probably stay here again. THE GOOD: Location - Close to public beach access in a quiet area of an otherwise overcrowded city at peak times. Being in the North End allows driving access into town via less crowded roads from Norfolk. Yard - Big private yard for the kids to run around in. Outdoor dining areas. Porch - Awesome screened porch for chilling, reading, sipping... A/C - Central Air worked well the whole time. Washer/Dryer - Nice for drying wet clothes or minimizing dirty laundry to do back home. Price - At least when we stayed the price was reasonable relative to other options. Decor - About as nice as it could be for a house this age and size. Outdoor Shower - For washing off all that sand. Manager - Kept in touch. THE BAD: Size - This is a very small house suitable for a short stay of a family of four or maybe a bit more. But much more would get very tight very fast. Age - The house was built in the 50's and it shows in a lot of ways. No updates likely done this millennium. Charming and rustic if you can see it that way. Otherwise just plain old, but mostly still serviceable. Kitchen - What's the opposite of modern? That's what this kitchen feels like. Though there is a nice dishwasher. Washer/Dryer stacked unit is also in kitchen. Bathroom - The single worst thing about this house is the one and only TINY TINY TINY bathroom. Extremely extremely small, and everyone has to use it. The layout in there is just terrible and there is literally about an 18 inch gap you have to squeeze through behind the shower to get to the toilet and original 1950's sink. Shower itself is so tiny adults could barely even use it. I cannot overstate how non-functional this bathroom is, and after a week, that becomes an issue. Nowhere near ADA compliant if accessibility is an issue for you. Cleaning Company - Whatever cleaning company they use is moderate at best. The place wasn't dirty, but it was abundantly clear that they have to move fast to turn the rental over each week and just skip a number of areas (under the beds, overflowing trash cans outside, etc.). You pay for this cleaning company via an add-on fee, so you'd hope they'd do a better job. It wasn't the worst I've seen by any stretch, but I'd find a new crew."
