  • Lovely well stocked vacation home

"My family and I stayed in Seashore Delight in August 2016. It was close to the beach and well stocked with beach items such as chairs and umbrellas. The home itself had plenty of everything for family dinners. It was an enjoyable week and it felt just like home. i would certainly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again."

  • Amazing Family Vacation

"We just returned home from an amazing family vacation. We stayed for 5 nights. (6 adults & 3 children) The house is beautifully decorated. We had plenty of room indoors and outdoors. Very kid friendly. There are toys and books conveniently located in closets and nooks around the house. The yard is fenced in and our children enjoyed the playground. We loved taking the ferry to Jamestown. it is exactly 15 minutes to get across Most times we drove right on Sometimes we waited 5-10 minutes. The schedule does change in the evening from every half hour to hourly so one time we did have a wait. Our favorite places we took the ferry to were The Jamestown Settlement, Ripleys (loved the 4-D movies) the glass house (where you can watch glass blowing and shop), the Event Park (on the left side as soon as you get off the ferry $5 to park and you can swim in the river wasn't crowded) the Red, Hot and Blue BBQ (near Ripleys) and Food for Thought (next to Ripleys (they have gluten free options) Nearby the house we went to the Virginia Diner, Surrys Seafood, Bacons Castle and I highly recommend Ed-n-lo Antiques in Wakefield (so much good stuff check out their Facebook page :) there is also a children's clothing store upstairs and a few more antique stores on the same road (right near Virginia Diner). We did hike around the property after reading the Faery Story. It's beautiful and secluded (a lovely local woman told us a celebrity stayed here somewhat recently :) We had the pleasure of briefly meeting the owner, Cliff. If we ever head this way again we will stay here. A lovely historic home with a kid friendly yard is always more enjoyable than a hotel room for our family of 9. Thank you so much"

  • Great Under Adversity

"Our group came to Sandbridge the extremely rare week it rained 15 inches. Schools were closed, some roads were blocked, and many restaurants closed too. Sewers were backed up.... challenging. The ground floor of Great Escape was a bit soaked when we arrived. Tara was extremely helpful and accommodating to give our group the best possible experience, with fans, dehumidifier, even permission to move mattresses upstairs. We had a wonderful time, loving the beach, witnessing a beautiful wedding on the beach the same weekend, taking turns cooking gourmet meals, building a 3-D puzzle that was in the closet (it took days to complete), enjoying the kayaks off the dock and in the ocean. Despite the challenges, we DEFINITELY look forward to future visits to Great Escape and Sandbridge. Tara deserves highest marks for her responsiveness, great communication, and going the extra mile under adversity."

  • Another awesome time at this perfect beach hideaway!

"My family has come to this wonderful oceanfront home for a few summers now and it just gets better every time. I say "home" because this classic beach house goes so far above and beyond any "vacation rental" I've ever experienced that it really feels like home. Well, "home" if home was right on the ocean with a perfectly appointed kitchen, a killer outdoor spa shower (seriously, maybe my favorite part of the experience!), and all the beach goodies you could want. In addition to days spent swimming and lounging on the beach, we love having evening cocktails in the front room with the ocean view in the evening and hosting big long dinner parties on the screened-in porch with friends (we got a bushel of crabs this year and had a crab picking party!). My husband and I have loved sharing this incredible place with our parents and friends here so much that we are already looking at our calendars for next year to book a vacation with our new baby (to be born in February!). We treasure the memories we've made here and can't wait to make this a new family tradition."
