  • Family sized house with easy beach access

"This was a great house for four different family groups staying in one location. Beach access was less than a three minute walk. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook in all our meals. The kids loved the large back yard. If you are looking for fancy this is not it. If you are looking for a fun filled family house with space to eat together in the dining room, kitchen, or screened in porch, this is your place. Loved it!! Thanks for a great long weekend in a homey house."

  • Best kept secret

"We had a great visit in Va Beach while participating in the Shamrock 8k. Peg's place is so cozy and well stocked. The view of the ocean is incredible ! Having access to the front lawn is a big plus! Since it's right off the boardwalk the crowds are less, however you are in walking distance of so many restaurants and shops. Peg is great with answering all questions and emails. Thanks!"

  • Small Cottage Near Beach

"This is a small cottage near the beach on the ocean side of the main road (Pacific Ave.). There are a number of good things about the house as well as some bad. But overall we enjoyed it and we'd probably stay here again. THE GOOD: Location - Close to public beach access in a quiet area of an otherwise overcrowded city at peak times. Being in the North End allows driving access into town via less crowded roads from Norfolk. Yard - Big private yard for the kids to run around in. Outdoor dining areas. Porch - Awesome screened porch for chilling, reading, sipping... A/C - Central Air worked well the whole time. Washer/Dryer - Nice for drying wet clothes or minimizing dirty laundry to do back home. Price - At least when we stayed the price was reasonable relative to other options. Decor - About as nice as it could be for a house this age and size. Outdoor Shower - For washing off all that sand. Manager - Kept in touch. THE BAD: Size - This is a very small house suitable for a short stay of a family of four or maybe a bit more. But much more would get very tight very fast. Age - The house was built in the 50's and it shows in a lot of ways. No updates likely done this millennium. Charming and rustic if you can see it that way. Otherwise just plain old, but mostly still serviceable. Kitchen - What's the opposite of modern? That's what this kitchen feels like. Though there is a nice dishwasher. Washer/Dryer stacked unit is also in kitchen. Bathroom - The single worst thing about this house is the one and only TINY TINY TINY bathroom. Extremely extremely small, and everyone has to use it. The layout in there is just terrible and there is literally about an 18 inch gap you have to squeeze through behind the shower to get to the toilet and original 1950's sink. Shower itself is so tiny adults could barely even use it. I cannot overstate how non-functional this bathroom is, and after a week, that becomes an issue. Nowhere near ADA compliant if accessibility is an issue for you. Cleaning Company - Whatever cleaning company they use is moderate at best. The place wasn't dirty, but it was abundantly clear that they have to move fast to turn the rental over each week and just skip a number of areas (under the beds, overflowing trash cans outside, etc.). You pay for this cleaning company via an add-on fee, so you'd hope they'd do a better job. It wasn't the worst I've seen by any stretch, but I'd find a new crew."

  • Wonderful family vacation!

"Our first family vacation was wonderful and this house made it fantastic for all of us. The pictures do not do it justice. The top floor was where we all hung out at night with the spacious family room, kitchen and dining room and of course the deck off the family room. Our grandchildren loved the pool and also the short walk to the best beach ever according to them. We felt so much at home that we did not want to leave. We would recommend this house in a minute and are seriously thinking of renting it again in the future."
