  • Amazing riverside escape!

"My fiancée and I booked this house as a weekend getaway in the off chance it would be warmer in Virginia than New York in April and we lucked out with great weather and a really easy booking process with Jennifer. The house was perfect and immaculate and the location really can't be beat if you are looking for a getaway and some river time. We were able to take the kayaks out and did some fishing but it would be even more amazing to come in the summer when you can take a raft out and float down the river. We brought our dog along and she loved it as well, there are no close neighbors and no river traffic at all that time of year so we felt like we were alone in the middle of nowhere which was exactly what we were looking for. Jennifer had some great suggestions on places to visit within a 30 minute drive and we were able to spend a gorgeous day winery hopping (our favorite was cobbler mountain cellars which was very dog friendly and had wine and tons of ciders to try) but wish we would have packed a picnic because that definitely seemed like the thing everyone was doing. We also had some great food at Hunter's head in Upperville and also traveled up north a bit to check out catoctin creek distillery and Market burger-all of which I would also recommend. While we were at the house there were some minor issues that came up that Jennifer was able to help us trouble shoot quickly even though she was traveling herself that weekend which was great as well. She was very accommodating and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending this place to friends and family!"

  • Great house for families visiting DC area

"We rented the house for our grown kids, spouses, and one grandchild so we could have a family reunion. The location is great. It's less than 2 miles from an Orange Line Metro station (you can actually walk it). There's a new upscale development nearby with shops, restaurants, theaters, and a Target. And it's a couple minutes from the Beltway. The house is furnished very tastefully. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with one bath. The downstairs is a large mother-in-law apartment with its own sleeping area and bath. The cleaning service must be in the habit of leaving unused foodstuff, as we found cooking oil, rice and some other basics in the kitchen (the rice proved to be useful). There are a ton of very nice dishes, glassware. Monika, the rental manager, is very professional and prompt. The kitchen waste disposal failed on the second day of our stay and the handyman was there the next morning to diagnose and fix the problem. We will come back to this rental when we have another reunion."

  • Quaint cottage ! Great location!

"I just stayed in Peyton's cottage last weekend. My sister lives nearby but has a house full with 4 kids. The cottage was very clean and adorable! Love the decorations! It is a great location. You can walk to all the shops and restaurants. I brought my large rescue dogs and it was great. They loved the large floor space to lay around. Lots of great places to walk dogs and fields for playing catch. Peyton & her husband were very friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this lovely cottage and area!"

  • Beautiful House

"We stayed for a partial week in he middle of Summer. The House was beautiful, the Lake was great, and everyone had a great time. The house was spacious, had two floors and Plenty of bedrooms. We had seven people staying there (six adults and one 3-year old). We also had another group from our family staying in another nearby house. This house was used as the main gathering and socializing house because of its size and amenities, etc. There were plenty of chairs and seating on the main floor. The decks were very nice. We did not use the fire pit outside, but we did use the grill. The grill is a combination gas and charcoal grill. There was plenty of room in the pantry for food, and the refrigerator was nice. The dock was great, and we could swim right off of it. There was a FunStation at the dock as well. The water at the end of the dock was about 8 feet deep, and we were able to catch fish right off the dock as well. We also saw turtles, lizards, and at least one heron. The dock is located in a private little inlet/cove, so it was pretty quiet. The only drawback to the dock was the number of steps you had to go down/up when heading there. Of course, this is due to the landscape itself, and the owners have maintained the stairs very well. Plus the landscape allows you to get better views from the house's deck, etc. All-in all, it's a great house. I have a hard time coming up with any negative issues, but here are some things that could be considered not perfect. 1) The TV in the living room is not HD compatible as other reviewers have stated, but the televisions in the respective bedrooms are. All TVs have DirecTV anyway, and the picture was fine on the large screen in the living room. So, as long as you don't plan to access a Netflix account or some other portable digital entertainment service (AppleTV, Roku, etc.) on the main room TV, etc. it's great The house also had a good collection of family movies, etc. that we could watch, but seriously, we were at the lake, so we didn't watch much TV. 2) The refrigerator ice machine made ice cubes, but the dispenser always wanted to crush them. In order to get actual ice cubes, we had to open the freezer and reach into the ice tray to get them. (Seriously, this is the length I must go to to find something negative about this house). Everyone had a great time and we would recommend this house to others!"
