  • Fabulous Family Hiking Holiday

"What a glorious home away from home! We wanted to stay in a couple of rooms inside Shenandoah National Park, and calculated that this home was only marginally more expensive but included 4 bedrooms/2baths, and had such comfortable beds and seating all over property inside and out. Enjoyed quiet, lazy morning reading under the shade of glorious tree and took a nap on most comfortable outdoor furniture ever. No bugs--or at least very few compared to Chicago mosquitos! Sauntered into town for superb iced soy blueberry latte at "Before and After" which also had fabulous mini quiches made from eggs laid day before. Bakery further along that road served best donut of my life! I don't normally eat donuts. These were special! Also from that bakery, a loaf of black bread that was heavenly; my daughter said it tasted like cake! (Spread with blueberry jam Owner of house kindly supplied.) Owner also so sweet and came to house helping us plan our special hiking and nature trips. A gem of a vacation spot--one of the best of my life. We have lived in England/Surrey, and this was the first time I ever saw an area that rivaled its beauty. Sunshine too! Can't say enough also about proximity to so many things historic and cultural, obviously the park, and also just the restful feeling of staying put and relaxing at the house, or going for a very challenging hike. Friendly folks at pub! Great pool tables, food, drinks, educated bunch of down to earth people. Fun and beautiful trip. GREAT beds!!!! GLORIOUS GARDENS!!!"

  • Great house for families visiting DC area

"We rented the house for our grown kids, spouses, and one grandchild so we could have a family reunion. The location is great. It's less than 2 miles from an Orange Line Metro station (you can actually walk it). There's a new upscale development nearby with shops, restaurants, theaters, and a Target. And it's a couple minutes from the Beltway. The house is furnished very tastefully. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with one bath. The downstairs is a large mother-in-law apartment with its own sleeping area and bath. The cleaning service must be in the habit of leaving unused foodstuff, as we found cooking oil, rice and some other basics in the kitchen (the rice proved to be useful). There are a ton of very nice dishes, glassware. Monika, the rental manager, is very professional and prompt. The kitchen waste disposal failed on the second day of our stay and the handyman was there the next morning to diagnose and fix the problem. We will come back to this rental when we have another reunion."

  • A Perfect Getaway!!!

"A very calming and relaxing cottage. Malcolm and Pam made us feel at home with the exceptional clean cottage in a pastoral setting. It was wonderful watching the sheep and the Llamas going about their business. Very close to the C&O canal where we enjoyed a wonderful day of biking to Harper's Ferry. Even a rainy day proved to be relaxing as we enjoyed the Charles Town sights and sounds. We WILL return, and we would recommend this setting to all who wish to get away and enjoy a setting that is out of this world!"
