  • Amazing

"Amazing home. Close to a metro station so having a car wasn't a big deal. The house was clean and well stocked. We had an amazing trip. Thank you!!"

  • Beautiful, amazing cozy spot!

"More than we expected. The owners were gracious hosts! Ideal spot to come home to after a long day sightseeing. Lovely Gardens to relax in. Grocery stores were close by and convenient. Downtown Alexandria has wonderful shops and restaurants. Convenient location to get into DC by car or Metro. Mount Vernon is just a few miles up the road easy and convenient to get to and a worthwhile stop on your trip. We traveled all the way from California and would gladly make the trip back just to stay at the cottage again."

  • Fabulous Family Hiking Holiday

"What a glorious home away from home! We wanted to stay in a couple of rooms inside Shenandoah National Park, and calculated that this home was only marginally more expensive but included 4 bedrooms/2baths, and had such comfortable beds and seating all over property inside and out. Enjoyed quiet, lazy morning reading under the shade of glorious tree and took a nap on most comfortable outdoor furniture ever. No bugs--or at least very few compared to Chicago mosquitos! Sauntered into town for superb iced soy blueberry latte at "Before and After" which also had fabulous mini quiches made from eggs laid day before. Bakery further along that road served best donut of my life! I don't normally eat donuts. These were special! Also from that bakery, a loaf of black bread that was heavenly; my daughter said it tasted like cake! (Spread with blueberry jam Owner of house kindly supplied.) Owner also so sweet and came to house helping us plan our special hiking and nature trips. A gem of a vacation spot--one of the best of my life. We have lived in England/Surrey, and this was the first time I ever saw an area that rivaled its beauty. Sunshine too! Can't say enough also about proximity to so many things historic and cultural, obviously the park, and also just the restful feeling of staying put and relaxing at the house, or going for a very challenging hike. Friendly folks at pub! Great pool tables, food, drinks, educated bunch of down to earth people. Fun and beautiful trip. GREAT beds!!!! GLORIOUS GARDENS!!!"

  • Gorgeous, comfortable home, centrally located.

"My extended family and I spent a week at Blue Hill and had a wonderful time. The house is so beautiful and well laid out. I grew up in an old house and it felt like coming home. It was terribly hot and humid the whole week, but with the central air conditioning we were never uncomfortable. We took day trips to the arboretum, grist mill, and Long Branch Historic house, all of which are literally five minutes from the house. My sister-in-law got riding lessons at a horse farm around the corner, and we went tubing down the Shenandoah at Watermelon park. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing place in the country that isn't super remote."
