  • Love this house!

"This house was simply wonderful! A group of us stayed here for a girls weekend and before the weekend was over we were already discussing when we could come back for another visit! The photos don't do the house justice, it was beautiful, cozy, and well-decorated. It was a real treat to collect the chicken eggs in the mornings and have them for breakfast. The kitchen was well-stocked and we were able to cook lots of large meals and had all of the various pots, pans, and serving dishes needed. I can't say enough good things about this property."

  • Perfect escape from the city..

"Couldn't have asked for anything more than what we received from Dick and Judy's guest house. Farm fresh eggs were awaiting us in the refrigerator. They have a little piece of heaven out there in sperryville. Being as close as you could possibly want to be to any of virginia's wineries and the quaint/cute town of sperryville. Would gladly stay again. Foot steps to hikes right down the driveway as well a short car ride away to white oak canyon and of course old rag which you can see from the front porch. Whether star gazing or vineyard touring or just flat out relaxing. It's a great place to call home away from home. Thanks Dick and Judy!"

  • Highly recommend!

"We are group of 11 people who spend 3 days at Richard's farm for the holiday, which is really nice place!!! Don't be fooled by the photos which seem a little bit outdated. The actual place is way better than those photos. I think lots of improvement were made after those photos were taken. I hope Richard could upload some new photos to prove I'm not lying :) There are lots of activity you could do on the site such as Ping Pong, fishing, BBQ outside. The stereo is really good. There are also two ADORABLE alpacas which are not mentioned in the overview section!!!! They are just so cute. Anyway, it's really great experience for me and my friends, I wish I could visit here again!!"

  • Great City Escape

"Great location for traveling to Old Rag. Secluded, and overall clean property. The home was completely renovated in 2010 and nicely appointed. Well stocked with basic necessities and full size appliances. We appreciated the ice maker and fire wood however there wasn't enough for more than 1 fire. The bed sheets did not appear clean with various hairs, but bathrooms were extremely clean! Upstairs bed is very uncomfotable and needs replaced. What would make this cottage even more comfortable would be a new bed and a small sectional downstairs for 2+ people to stretch out on. T.V. and DVD player were nice but we couldn't get the antennae to work after multiple attempts to get the local news/weather and a radio would be helpful. The pond was large and we saw fish jumping, a bald eagle and a heron. Could not find the trails on the property. Enjoyed the ride to Sperryville and a nice dinner at Thornton River Grille. They have a gourmet grocery store attached to the restaurant too with everything you'll need. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our time at Maggie's Cottage. Great mix of relaxation and adventure"
