  • Nice Cabin

"My husband and I took our 2 dogs here for a little rest and relaxation and were joined by my teenage daughter later in our stay at Bear Meadows. The cabin was spacious and comfortable. Upon arrival the gas fireplace was not working so we called and a very nice woman(I think her name was Terry) who responded to the cabin within the hour and although she was not able to fix it she arranged to have the handy man out the next morning(at our request) to get it up and running. He did get it running but the remote on the wall didn't ever really work completely. We had to turn it on and off using the switch inside the fireplace. The river was quite a distance from the house so unfortunately you couldn't see it or hear it but we did enjoy walking the dogs down for exercise and playtime. Just be aware there are other dogs in the area that are allowed to wander off leash. The property was private and we made good use of the hot tub out on the deck, which was very clean and a good size. Loved the large fire pit and made good use of it. The cabin itself was also clean other than the blinds which could definitely use a dusting. It was nice that linens were included as many rentals do not offer that. A note regarding trash removal, the transfer station is closed on Sundays so you will have to leave $5.00 per bag of trash. Overall we had a nice peaceful vacation at the cabin and would recommend this rental to others."

  • Wonderful, relaxing get-away

"The stay at the lodge was by far the most relaxing and enjoyable part of my recent vacation. It was a complete escape from the every day and provided peace, quite and a chance to slow down and enjoy time with family and be around a lot more nature than we get at home. The lodge itself is amazing! It is grand (an understatement), with all modern amenities, but also rustic, gracious and incredibly warm and inviting. Everything we could need was right there in the house or on the property. We didn't stay in the treehouse, but did check it out-- that alone would have been sufficient for a stay as it was a complete house. There was more than enough to do on site, but it wasn't hard to take a nearby excursion to the mountains. One of the most enjoyable aspects was the stunning view. What a treat to have an unobstructed view of the sun striking the Old Rag during the morning and to see the horses playing in the pasture below. Also comforting to have Penny (the caretaker) close by. We didn't see anyone during our stay, but happy to know that someone was nearby if need be, and she couldn't be nicer when we spoke! The house would be ideal for a large family, multiple family get-away, or family reunion. It was a privilege to stay there and hard to leave!"

  • Unique home, convenient location

"Our rental experience at 27 Main was excellent. There are no adjectives to describe this unique home. Furnished with priceless antiques, yet still homey and comfortable. Kitchen and bathrooms beautifully updated and equipped. Convenient location for Shenandoah Nat'l Park and Skyline Drive. In downtown Sperryville, walking distance to Hopkins Ordinary Ale House which became our "home away from home", the General Store and several places to grab a bite to eat. We definitely plan on returning as soon as we can!"

  • Refreshing Family Get-a-Way

"Our family of 5 stayed at Sweetwater in the month of July and it was everything we hoped for and more! Prior to arriving our communication with Jan excellent (within a day) and pleasant. The cottage was clean, beds and futons comfortable for sleeping, kitchen well supplied and the views from house and screened porch were beautiful! After kayaking 12 miles of the river, we decided Sweetwater had the best location on the river. We could see layers of mountains in both directions when standing on the edge of the river and floating in it. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks, floating in the tubes and cooking in the fire pit. We also enjoyed a drive on the Skyline Drive and rode the zip lines at the Shenandoah St. Park about 40 minutes away. The Sweetwater grounds were quiet and peaceful - perfect for relaxing and getting away from the city!"
