  • Cozy and Wonderful!

"We loved our stay in the Treehouse! It was cozy, well-equipped, and just what we were looking for in a weekend place in Charlottesville. We had easy access to everything we wanted to do in town. We were there during a heat spell but the window a/c units kept us quite cool. I absolutely adored the outdoor shower - such a pleasant experience! Would definitely stay there again!"

  • Perfect cottage for family hiking trip - Old Rag Mountain

"Our family rented the Tucker'd Out cottage for two nights and found it to be cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we could ask for! The property itself is fabulous - with breathtaking views of Old Rag Mountain and lots of land to explore. We particularly liked the location - very close to the parking lot for Old Rag and not far from White Oak Canyon. The kitchen - which does not have a full oven - was perfect for our needs. We prepared all our meals each day and were surprised to find everything we needed and a few extras we didn't expect - like napkins, salt and pepper, olive oil, zip lock bags and aluminum foil. We certainly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! We used the charcoal grill one night, which was wonderful. And we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. The upstairs living area and bedroom were perfect for the kids! The couches up there are comfy and there is plenty of room for them to sleep. You could comfortably sleep six or more in the house - but with only one bathroom and one dining area, I would not advise more than six. We were surprised when we read the guest book and learned the property has been rented out for several years - You would think it's brand new with the way it is maintained. Everything was in great condition - nothing in need of repair or even looking worn. The linens were fresh and clean, the furniture was in great shape and the whole cottage looked well taken care of. The owners were great to work with - giving me directions and answering questions in advance. Thanks to Peggy's direction, we stopped at Food Lion on Rt 29 on the way to the cottage from Charlottesville for groceries. We have two teenagers and a tween - so a few days without internet or satellite was just what we needed to connect as a family without distractions. We played games and poker (we brought our own but they actually had poker chips and cards) and watched a DVD (there are tons of them at the house!). We wanted to use the corn hole boards and ladder toss but we didn't have time. We would have liked having internet to check the weather and use Google Maps but we managed just fine without that luxury. Thank you for a wonderful spring break. We would love to come back again!"

  • Terrific location and good for elderly or disabled guests

"We had a great stay at this property. The pool and hot tub were a big hit! The short one-block walk to the beach was terrific. We were able to go to the beach so much more than we have on past trips when we stayed further away. We spent all day in the private pool and then walked to the beach around 5:00 to enjoy the sand and surf. The beach was never crowded. There are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants within 20 minutes drive. We chose the property in part because of the friendly layout for my 86-year old mother in law who uses a walker. She was able to easily enter the home (no front steps) and navigate among the first-floor bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, family room and out to the pool with ease. I highly recommend this property if you are traveling with anyone who needs accessible accommodations. It is difficult to find beach rentals that are accessible. The guest cottage was also a nice plus. It afforded just enough privacy away from the main house but still easy access to the pool, hot tub, etc. The property was clean on arrival and included enough toilet paper, hand soap and bath soap for the week. We didn't have any problems so didn't need to contact the owner other than for a question on Day 1 which she responded to promptly. Please note that, as other reviewers have also mentioned, the photo of the second-floor bedroom is showing you an open cutout in the wall. The room is not enclosed on all sides and the open wall is right above the kitchen. Unless everyone in your home goes to bed and wakes up at the same time, you are not going to be able to use this room as a bedroom because of the noise. We ended up not using it for anything other than a TV room for the kids. Luckily we didn't need the space."
