  • Great pet friendly spot for winery and brewery adventures!

"This place was super convenient for exploring the wineries and breweries surrounding Charlottesville. Very comfortable, easy, pet-friendly, and with super reasonable nightly rates. This was SO much better and more comfortable than getting a hotel to do a couples' weekend getaway for wine/beer tasting!"

  • Comfortable Chalet, Good Location

"This was a great ski weekend spot for our group of three adults and three children. The two bedrooms with queen beds and the bathroom upstairs made that a great spot for one family, and the first floor bedroom with two twin beds provided separate space for two. There is also a convertible sofa in living room. There were three tvs -- one in each of the upstairs bedrooms and one in the living room -- and a good stock of dvds. We made great use of the fireplace -- lots of wood and duraflame starters provided. We were pleased with all the extra touches the owner provided, including everything you would expect and many notes to explain how things worked. We brought groceries with us and ate breakfast and evening meals in the chalet, and that worked very well. The chalet is close to the ski area, but we still found it easier to use the CRV to drop off the ski equipment. There is plenty of parking in the morning near the slopes. The owner was great to work with all the way through the process. We would definitely stay here again."

  • Fantastic, charming old clean/comfy farmhouse

"Clean. Comfortable. Charming. Quiet. This was a fantastic find. Impeccably clean, it felt like I had transported myself to my grandma's house 60 years ago except for the satellite TV, hot tub (SUPER clean), and comfortable new beds. Your own little piece of heaven. 2 mins from food, groceries, and whatever you need to live. 15 mins or less to all attractions like the Luray caverns, Shenandoah, horseback riding (Jordan Stables was super fun, kind and family operated). The owner of this farmhouse, Gary was kind and helpful and wasn't around to bother you in your serenity. Sheets, towels, tissues and soap and coffee all provided. I highly recommend staying here"

  • Wonderful house, grounds, and location for family!

"My family stayed at this property with another family over July 4th weekend. All in all, we are two couples and four kids six and under. We had an amazing time and really look forward to making this an annual trip. Our kids keep asking to go back so we might need to schedule another visit sooner. The property grounds are fantastic. The vista from the Cottage is breathtaking. The landscaping all around the Cottage, the owners' house, and the rest of the property is lovely. We spent most of our time in the in ground pool and were pleased that pool toys and towels were plentiful. At night, we used the gas grill to BBQ and built a fire (with some difficulty!) in the patio firepit to roast smores. The kids loved roaming the grounds and visiting the various animals. After meals, they would visit the chickens to feed them leftovers, play with the owners' pets, or run around on the grass and catch fireflies. The outdoor layout is perfect for the letting the kids safely run around. There is playground equipment right outside of the Cottage as well as a good size field and chicken coop. Inside the Cottage, the owners' sense of style and thoughtfulness is clear. The house is stocked with toilet paper and soap (bring napkins, paper towels, etc.). The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes and basic cooking oils / spices. Everything was spotless. The beds, sheets, and towels were all comfy. As a previous reviewer notes, the Cottage has three bedrooms on one side of the house and a master bedroom (with bath) on the other side of the house. This worked well for our group. I should note that the third bedroom on the larger side of the house has a cut-out in the wall that faces the A/C unit on the stairwell. My three year old daughter slept in that room, which was a little difficult because the room is open to the stairwell (and living room below). We needed to turn off the lights on that side of the house (inside and out) so that my daughter's room would be dark and quiet enough. Small inconvenience only. Other than this, the place is very kid-friendly. The owners have a gaggle of grandkids who clearly spend a lot of time there. Our friends used the pack'-n-pack and we all enjoyed the children's books and game throughout the Cottage. All in all, this was an incredible vacation. The owners are very friendly. Highly recommended."
