  • Just what we were looking for, exactly as advertised.

"This home was ideal for our weekend gathering. It's wonderfully private with just the right level of amenities. The owner maintained excellent communication throughout the process. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again."

  • A gem in the rough - the rough being Bucchan

"For a house built back in 1870, I was impressed how well it has been maintained. The owners have added all modern conveniences and each room is nicely decorated with paintings, etc. The kitchen has all needed utensils, plates, cups, glasses and spices which is a real plus since Bucchan does not overflow with places to eat (especially on a Sunday evening). The beds were comfortable as well as the furniture. I found everything to my liking and highly recommend it."

  • Incredible home and owner

"Not to mention such a kind owner, This was the greatest vacation getaway that I could have asked for. For such a cozy house nestled right in the middle of the blue ridge mountains, the hot tub on the back deck was such a wonderful thing. With such incredible views and activities I highly recommend the winter garden spa as it was simply delightful. My only regret was that I did not stay longer because theres so much to do from hiking and biking to skiing in the winter. I will definitely be returning to this house again and wouldn't even think about booking another house in the mountains. Cons: Nothing. Rating 11/10"

  • Excellent Cabin in Fabulous Hiking Area

"Cabin and the property are perfect! We are a family with 3 kids and a dog; stayed for a week. No complaints about the cabin. It has everything necessary for our young family. Area is perfect for those wishing to hike and fish. Proximity of AT and numerous trails to cabin make this a great base camp for exploring the area. Proximity of Sherando Lake to other hiking areas made a great base camp for exploring farther away from the cabin. We were there over the 4th weekend, and the crowds were not overwhelming, even at "hot spots," such as Sherando Lake and Crabtree Falls. We still managed to find plenty of secluded areas. Purchase a local AT map at Nelson County visitor center. It was by far the best map of local trails (other than AT included) and back-country roads, surpassing even VDOT maps for the roads. We barely scratched the surface of the area in a week (and we were on the go 24/7). Beautiful streams and rivers, great for trout fishing. Husband and kids found many brookies and rainbows. If you like to fish, stop by the State Fish Hatchery, chat with the friendly volunteers about best streams/areas in general. Neat tour as well."
