  • Beautiful!

"Our weekend stay at the cabin was amazing! It is beautifully decorated and feels so comfy. The location is great and the hot tub was a great perk. Definitely staying here again!"

  • A wonderful place to stay!

"My family and I thoroughly enjoy our stay at Shenandoah Woods. We have stayed in Old Wagon Lodge and Sunridge Retreat. The homes are clean, spacious and with every amenity you could ask for provided. We enjoy just getting away from the stress of everyday life and enjoy the remote woodlands and beautiful mountain scenery. We will be returning again and again."

  • Wonderful tranquil getaway!

"Anne is so easy to deal with. We were due to stay at the Riverhouse when the winterstorm was to hit the Virginia area. Anne called us before we had even left for our trip and we agreed to play it by ear. Communication was fantastic and we delayed our visit by a day due to the snow. When we did finally get to the Riverhouse we were delighted! The photos don't do the place justice, it's so spacious! We had more than enough room for the four of us and the kids loved the garden, or meadow as our little girl called it. The house has a lovely family feel, it has everything you need including lots of games, and is in such a beautiful spot. Anne has a great binder of information and we enjoyed doing a couple of the suggested walks in the snow! We really enjoyed our stay, and would thoroughly recommend the River House."

  • Enjoyable Stay

"Our stay started out rough. Ice and snow on stairs that we spent 1 hour making safe, then couldn't get heat working, couldn't get owner. Things went uphill from there. We finally got in touch with Tina (the work number was wrong- she knows that now), and she came right down and tried to start heaters. She got the one in the kitchen going finally but could not get gas fire going (she tried for a while and came back and tried again) She had someone come the next morning and it got fixed. There is no heat in bathrooms. Bedrooms have fake fireplace heaters- not good if you don't like light and noise. Den has thermostat for that room. Took a few hours to finally get warm. There is definitely a stink bug problem-common in this area in spring and fall. we killed about 10 a day. Now the good. It is very spacious! Lots of room for people and dogs- inside and out. Our dogs loved running around outside- one is not used to being off lease so he was thrilled. The walk down to the river is a nice one, across 2 fields on a dirt/grass road. Since the trees were not out we could see river from porch and house. Was disappointed about layout of house- could not tell from pictures. You start at one end of the house with the kitchen and half bath off kitchen, then you move into the living room with full bath off living room. The stairs go nowhere!. Off the other side of the living room is the den and the 2 bedrooms are off of the den at that end of the house. We were hoping that the den was a set aside room but anyone sleeping there has the people in the bedrooms walking through- especially as the bathrooms are on the other end of the house from the bedrooms! We made it work but it was only us and our daughter. The porch was great to sit on (you might want to remove those old rocking chairs- they look dangerous to sit on). We took a fun walk over to the "ghost houses" and the cave- cave is not much- cannot go into it. Also windows of living room have a beautiful view but are very dirty- Tina said they are trying to figure how to clean them. We did not use the hot tub or fire pits- we wound up having cold, wet weather and snow! Easy drive into town- Luray greenway was a great walk. Hard to find places to eat- there are some. We would definitely come back but probably when it is warmer. My advice if you come in the cold- bring space heaters, ice melt, and shovels. Very quiet, peaceful but not far off main road. Dead end so no cars at all!"
