  • Amazing home for an amazing vacation!

"My family and our friends have gone many times on vacation and rented many different houses. But this house was by far the best- there are definitely no other houses better than this one! We enjoyed the design of the house, it was very beautiful. It is a great family vacation home, for any time of the year."

  • Perfect Family Island Getaway

"We have been staying at Michelle and Lanie's rental houses for the past 5 years. This year we rented both cottages - SeaSpray and the slightly larger cottage on the same property - for a family reunion. The huge lawn in between the two houses gives my kids amply space to play soccer or badminton or just run around. Each year we have added more "toys" to our journey to Lopez, including stand up paddle boards, bikes, and we always rent a double kayak from the kayak rental place in town - all of which we can keep on the property with us. It makes for the most amazing and adventurous vacation. In 5 years of visiting we still haven't gotten to all the places we want to explore on the island! The cottages are immaculate, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable with stunning views of the water from most rooms. Michelle and Lanie treat us like family, with their kindness (including treats from their garden!) and hospitality. They are also equally aware of giving us lots of privacy and are respectful of us having our own family experience. It is the perfect balance of feeling well-cared for and being on our own, tucked away in the south end of the island with the beautiful Davis Bay only steps away. For the past five years, it has been a great experience for our family, who now range in age from 9 to 87. Clearly we love it because we keep coming back!"

  • Wonderful Whidbey Weekend

"This house is awesome! It's spacious and comfortable. The deck with that view is amazing. We took full advantage of the hot tub daily, and used the outdoor grill and fire pit multiple times too. The house has everything you need. Large kitchen with lots of amenities and a large refrigerator. Indoor and outdoor dining space. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms are spacious. We would definitely come here again! Our dog loved the backyard and just laying in the grass or on the deck. The owners are very nice, and accommodating. Unlike other rentals, they do not require a cleaning fee or a deposit, and you can easily pay by credit card, check or cash. The only down side was that the internet was spotty. It wasn't a problem for me, but one of my friends had to do some work while we were there and we specifically picked this place because it said it had internet. He ended up getting it to work long enough for his work, but don't plan on having enough internet to do work, or stream movies."

  • Cozy, well-appointed retreat in the woods

"My husband and I stayed at Heron's Roost for 5 days celebrating our anniversary. The place was as described - the cabin is cozy, well-appointed and very clean. The landscaping is beautifully done incorporating native plantings in a clearing in the woods. There are a couple of homes close by - the owners live on the 5 acre property - but there is complete privacy on the cabin area and the woods conceal the nearby homes. It does have a "retreat" feel, and we enjoyed the fire pit and hanging out in the gazebo in the evenings. We went down to the beach a couple of times. It is a little precarious going down there, but well worth it. The kitchen is well stocked (though a dutch oven for steaming the local mussels would be a nice addition - but I cook way more than most people). It's super-quiet and dark at night. The location is a great base for exploring the island - 15 minutes to Langley, 30 minutes to Coupeville. We hiked in all the parks - the South Whidbey State Park was particularly delightful with it's giant trees, heard some music at DjangoFest, and had some excellent brunches in both Langley and Coupeville. I would recommend this property to others wanting a peaceful place to stay on Whidbey."
