"My writing group uses the lodge every year for a retreat where we work on our latest books, share information, and support each other as PNW authors. The house and property surrounding the lodge are perfect for our quiet, private retreat.
Not only are there loads of sleeping options, from a luxurious Master Bedroom and Ensuite, to a cozy bunkroom, but there are enough bathrooms and tucked-away nooks for everyone to spread out in. The master chef-style kitchen has everything needed including two dishwashers, a second island sink and every cooking tool you could imagine. We cook elaborate meals while at the lodge and have never wanted for anything except maybe a calorie extractor.
The suite over the garage is a little slice of heaven and privacy for anyone needing quiet, and provides a great a view of the deer who visit the property daily on that side of the house. Although we don't turn on the TV's, there are many and the cozy den is a perfect media room off the great room.
This year we jumped in the hot tub and enjoyed watching elk cruise by on the golf course in front of the house. We also walked to Swiftwater Winery to do some tasting on the last day and ended up having a last night dance party using the iPad built in to the house-wide sound system.
There are a couple of bikes in the garage, a ping pong table, loads of movies, books, board games, and although we didn't use any of these, we did appreciate the extremely speedy internet, loads of wall plugs, the view, the lack of neighbors, the fireplaces, the sumptuous bed linens and pillows, the large dining room table and many chairs, the window seat in the Great Room, the artwork, and the speed with which the owner, Pat, responds to a question.
Thanks to the Suncadia gang for making our stay another successful writers' retreat. Love Grand Fir Lodge!"
