"Sky Beach Cabin was the perfect choice for our family of two parents, two teens and two dogs.
Parents Loved: The cabin's fun decor, soft towels, dishwasher, hot tub, movie selection, charcoal grill, big shower, great coffee pot, writing desk in master, the trees!!
Teens Loved: comfy bunkbed, Wifi, walking dogs to the river, playing cards, mom brought chocolate, watching dogs swim in the river, comfy couch, large TV, movie selection
Dogs Loved: Swimming in the river, sniffing in the forest, watching out the windows
We set off from Sammamish knowing the forecast was for rain but brought firewood anyhow. Loved the adventure of going over the suspension bridge! Our two night stay was punctuated by rain but this place is great in the rain too! We grilled and ate on the porch by twinkling strung lights, played cards (no mosquitoes) watched a movie, then slept in the sumptuously cloud-like beds. The teens left the next day as planned and the parents swam the dogs, worked from our laptops, went to the Baring store for coffee (which we forgot :( ) had a hot tub, made dinner, played Scrabble, watched a movie and enjoyed the sound of rain on the roof.
Things to note: There is sand surrounding the cottage so bring shoes that slip on and off easily at the door. The clear cold river is definitely swimmable in August but the air was cold for this swimmer. There is a lovely little beach strip between the forest and the rocky beach with chairs and a table. The forest canopy blocks most rain but the secondary drips, so even in the rain you could have a campfire in the pit which is located ten feet off the front patio.
The interior of the cabin is much cuter than the pictures. If you appreciate log cabin themed decor like us, you will love the fishing lamps, artwork and pine paneling. SBCabin is well appointed with microwave, pot and pans, loads of dishes and glasses and lots of towels for the deluxe, modern bathroom. Even two dogs bowls and towels! The appliances are top of the line, even the toaster.
I especially appreciated the writing desk seeing I'm a writer and had set aside six hours on the second day for rewrites of my new novel Girl of his Dream (shameless plug!) I only wish I had this writing desk at my own house and the view of the river and forest to stare at during writers' block moments.
Well worth every penny. Thanks for allowing our doggies!
