"Great location, we were in the area for a wedding and we were able to mess around in Hoodsport, Take the boat out on the lake and shoot a round at the Lake Cushman golf course."

  • Birthday weekend with our Besties!

"We love the canal and Sunshine Point was the perfect place to revisit old memories from our childhood stomping grounds, and create new ones. The home is perfectly situated on the property with beautiful views and great access to the beach. Sue and Mark have made sure it is well-stocked and nicely furnished. We were 3 couples (down from an intended 4) and the bedroom configuration worked well for the 6 of us. We would have had to draw straws if we'd had the 4 couples as the 4th bedroom is set up for kids or singles....we would have made it work, though! We had everything we needed for cooking and grilling. We loved the outdoor fire pit for the one drizzly day we had. We appreciated all the seating inside and out. Since we were very close to Twanoh State Park, we visited the beach where, as teens, we spent hot summer days sun bathing and swimming. We took the 2.5 mi hike which is scenic and probably do/able for most. A must-do is the drive to the Hama Hama Oyster Saloon......you get rewarded with the freshest oysters ever, raw or grilled, as well as other menu items and beer and wine. It was great weekend experience. Sue was a gracious host and made everything easy to arrange. We shall return!!!"

  • Cozy house with a fantastic view!

"Wow! We loved this place! The house is clean, warm and cozy, and the kitchen is the best equipped kitchen in any of the many vacation houses I have ever rented. Although there are houses close by, it feels very private. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of books, DVD's and games on the shelves. Clearly this is a house that the owner and her family use themselves because they have thought of everything! But, by far, the greatest thing about this house is the deck, which looks out to a beautiful, changing view of the Hood Canal and the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula. The pictures do not lie - it is truly that beautiful. We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings and watching the tides change - it was quite a startling difference between low and high tide. We saw eagles, herons, kingfishers, seals and otters. We are a hiking family and we spent several days hiking on the Olympic Peninsula. Several great day hikes are within a 1 or 1 1/2-hour driving distance of the house, including Mt. Elinore, where you may see mountain goats if you go up high enough. From the house, you can walk to the Mexican restaurant in Union, which serves excellent, authentic Mexican food, and the ice cream sold at the country store across the street is also fantastic. The owner was very helpful and quickly responded to all of my questions. We highly recommend this rental to anyone who is lucky enough to travel to it!"

  • Fantastic Place, just a few things to know ahead of time...

"We loved our stay here. I especially appreciated the kind and efficient communication with the owner! We liked the location a lot because it isn't too far from Seattle and it is right on the beach. It is also close to Lake Cushman activities and Hoodsport (grocery story and ICE CREAM parlors). The cabin is definitely rustic, but clean with all the modern things you need like a bathroom, shower with good water pressure, running water, tv with dvd only... :) My absolute favorite thing about this property was the deck with a big round picnic table on it. The view was great and it was so nice to sit out there in the morning and read with my coffee and later in the day we played cards and could even eat around the table, which fits 6 adults nicely (we had 5 adults + 2 little kids around it). What I think is important to know is that since you need to stay off the neighbor's property, the beach access you do have is steep, so was difficult to impossible for our older family members to navigate. Another thing to note is that none of the bedrooms have doors on them. We made it work and everything else was so great that this wasn't a major problem, but we were surprised at first and I think it is good to know what to expect. You can still change clothes in the bathroom or in privacy if no one walks in the room. Lastly, there aren't curtains on the bedroom windows, except for one in the master, but it is sheer. As an adult, this wouldn't be a problem for going to sleep (it gets dark around 9pm during the summer), but it made for a bit of a challenge to get our little ones to sleep (no door + lots of light). Don't get me wrong, this place is so great, which is why I give it 5 stars, and we will be back, but I think it's good to know ahead of time about some of the quirks so that you are totally pleased with your stay! Thank you Cynthia for a great time!"
