  • Lovely and serene beach house.

"We just had the best time, there was something for everyone from my 60+mother in law, who loved sitting in the glider watching the tides roll in by the big windows, to my young nephew who played badminton with us on the lawn just by the beach. We all loved watching the bald eagles, sea otters, sea ducks and deer all from the wrap around deck. This was such a relaxing place to stay. The home itself felt like a home, everything you might need is there. I could tell the owners stay there sometimes as well, because it felt cared for. I would definitely stay again."

  • Loved it!

"This house worked perfectly for my husband and I and our 3 kids. It was comfortable, cute, and clean. We spent 3 days there as we visited beautiful Olympic NP. The town is quaint and quiet, too. Thank you!"

  • An absolutely wonderful place to stay!!

"What more can be said about this wonderful home and wonderful owners? All the reviews you see are 100% accurate. This charming mobile home is spacious, quiet, and *****clean*****, sparkling clean! There are beautiful quilts on every bed and plenty of extra blankets in the closet. There was so much to do in this house we couldn't get to it all. TV, videos, game room, BBQ and probably things we never discovered. We are definitely coming back to pick up where we left off. The views out the back give you a beautiful view of Black Lake. The views out the front give you a beautiful view of Ardell's 50 acres of cranberry bogs. We were there when the fields were all red. It was a beautiful sight. This was our first adventure renting through VRBO and we were very leery. We hope every place we stay in the future is as wonderful as The Lakeside Family Home. Thank you, Ardell, for a wonderful stay."

  • Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful

"The cabin has amazing views of Hood Canal and the cabin is SO CLEAN! It isn't fancy or big, but it is well maintained and clean, without question. It is on the smaller side, so it's perfect for a couple or maybe a small family but there wouldn't be much privacy (the bathroom door doesn't fully shut to the bedroom - you can't really see in there, but you can hear). The kayaking is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't bring a personal kayak - stairs down to the water are steep and narrow. The dog thought it was the coolest thing when the tide came up and we had our own private little beach area. Not that I saw anyone else the entire stay, but it was fun to watch her experience the small waves coming in and running around like a silly dog. Definitely need water shoes or be willing to get your shoes wet as the waterfront area is big rocks and lots of big sharp shells. The hammock is the best place on the property, hands down. I spent hours there watching the water and even saw a family of otters one morning. I did see a sea lion while I was kayaking by myself and it followed me until I made it back to shore which I didn't like too much (they are big, they are called 'lions' for a reason and I think I was in it's fishing ground in the morning), but that is what I get for going on the water by myself. You can view all of the wildlife easily from the fantastic deck - watching the sea lion eat fish was much cooler while sipping tea on the deck :) The only downsides to the place is it is right off highway 101 which makes it a bit noisy when you are outside, but it's really not that bad, and the shower is pretty small. I am 5'3" so it wasn't a huge issue for me, but my husband is 6'1" and he had some space issues. But, there is some serious water pressure, so it's still a good shower in my book. Overall, a great cabin and I would highly recommend it to friends or family. Loved our stay and we will be coming back!!!"
