  • Look no farther...

"If your travels take you to the Seattle area and you want to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying life, look no farther. This property is located right on the water with stunning views of the Colvos Passage, Blake Island, and across to the Olympic peninsula. Getting there couldn't be easier -- just a 15 minute ferry ride from Fauntleroy (in West Seattle) and a 5 minute drive from the ferry terminal to the house. As noted by other reviewers, the house is comfortable, well equipped, immaculate, private, and very quiet. It's only a 10 minute drive to downtown Vashon should you need to purchase supplies, enjoy lunch or dinner, or do some shopping. During our four day visit, we explored the Island from Vashon Point to Maury Island, went to a winery (Andrew Will) and a cidery (Dragon's Head), and enjoyed dining at the Hardware Store, Casa Bonita, and May Kitchen. We also took the ferry to Southworth and drove up to Port Townsend, which is an easy and worthwhile day trip. However, we spent most of our time walking on the beach in front of the house and relaxing. The views from the house are truly beautiful with ever changing light, clouds, tides and breeze. You won't be disappointed! Finally, the owners were wonderful. They answered all our questions, made recommendations for places to visit and see while on the island, and gave us a call as we left Vashon Island to wish us a safe trip home. We highly recommend Sunset Beach Paradise House!"

  • Wonderful

"Thank you so much for the use of your happy home. We had a wonderful time. We left the place clean and left a bottle of wine as a thank you gift. I left instructions for the housekeeper that the dishes are clean in the dishwasher and the first load of laundry is done and in the dryer. I turned the fridge down and the lights off and double checked all the doors and windows and left one outside light on. We were able to kayak to our property heading toward Allyn yesterday, It only took us 1/2 hr. to get there from your place. That was the first time we had seen it seaward. Very special. We really enjoyed all your special touches too.You have made the place very homey. Really we hated to leave. It was wonderful to wake up in that comfy bed and look out the window and see the water and all those seals that were hanging out on the platform so close you could hear them talking to each other was really great especially with the help of the binoculars that you left there for us. It was so quiet and the night was wonderful with the campfire down by the water and the fireplace in the living room all ready with everything needed to start a fire and all the wood you stocked for them came in handy to. It was a relaxing and magical time on Treasure Island! Have a great day and thanks again."

  • Great Place

"Had a wonderful time. Eagle's Nest was really comfortable and had many little items that are often missing from rental places (a few spices, tin foil, enough serving platters, a ziplock bag). These little things all add up to a great experience. Very relaxing setting."

  • Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful

"The cabin has amazing views of Hood Canal and the cabin is SO CLEAN! It isn't fancy or big, but it is well maintained and clean, without question. It is on the smaller side, so it's perfect for a couple or maybe a small family but there wouldn't be much privacy (the bathroom door doesn't fully shut to the bedroom - you can't really see in there, but you can hear). The kayaking is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't bring a personal kayak - stairs down to the water are steep and narrow. The dog thought it was the coolest thing when the tide came up and we had our own private little beach area. Not that I saw anyone else the entire stay, but it was fun to watch her experience the small waves coming in and running around like a silly dog. Definitely need water shoes or be willing to get your shoes wet as the waterfront area is big rocks and lots of big sharp shells. The hammock is the best place on the property, hands down. I spent hours there watching the water and even saw a family of otters one morning. I did see a sea lion while I was kayaking by myself and it followed me until I made it back to shore which I didn't like too much (they are big, they are called 'lions' for a reason and I think I was in it's fishing ground in the morning), but that is what I get for going on the water by myself. You can view all of the wildlife easily from the fantastic deck - watching the sea lion eat fish was much cooler while sipping tea on the deck :) The only downsides to the place is it is right off highway 101 which makes it a bit noisy when you are outside, but it's really not that bad, and the shower is pretty small. I am 5'3" so it wasn't a huge issue for me, but my husband is 6'1" and he had some space issues. But, there is some serious water pressure, so it's still a good shower in my book. Overall, a great cabin and I would highly recommend it to friends or family. Loved our stay and we will be coming back!!!"
