  • Location, location, location!

"This 1960's (?) A-frame sits right on Hood Canal with access to the water via a steepish wooden staircase. The back deck is comfy with beautiful view of McDonald Cove including eagles, sparrows, seals frolicking about! The place does have 2 kayaks, a hammock, and heating device for deck for evening dinners. That being said, 4 adults would be the maximum number of people as only 1 bedroom is private, the second one being up a steep staircase under th "A" which is open to the main livingroom. The livingroom (decked out with 2 leather loveseats, one droopy futon couch and a wood burning stove) also looks out on the sound- very restful. The futon couch folds out to a double bed that kids could sleep on. The kitchen was adequate. (Could have used a teakettle and fridge was a bit rusty.) Carpeting in livingroom and in upstairs bedroom needs to be replaced; however, never had to worry about messing up the floors...Enjoying time at the cabin and on the private waterfront was a real plus.My husband and I also enjoyed exploring Duckabush River (Murhut Falls), DosewallipsRiver (oysters, clams, oh my!), and Hamma Hamma River and eating oysters outdoors @ Hamma Hamma Seafood. Owner provided good customer service and instructions for cabin (turning on/off systems) were clear and easily followed. A negative upon leaving-we were instructed to take our garbage/recycling w/ us except the landfill was not open on the day we left. Had to leave our refuse at the State Park."

  • A welcoming place with an amazing view.

"This retreat was by far one of the best places that we have stayed at while in Washington for our 9 day vacation. The views are spectacular and the home itself is so welcoming. We enjoyed our nights on the deck watching the stars and our mornings watching the sun come up. The owners were so nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting this area."

  • Cozy historic home

"Pictures don't capture charm. Gracious hosts, well stocked kitchen. Strawberry patch which we used to make waffles. Nice having clamming supplies, boats with life jackers, water shoes, croquet setvwith lovely side yard to play in, outside fire pits. Park next door with play structure handy to walk dogs. Beds were comfy enough. Upstairs had hand made bedroom doors lack full privacy. Downstairs bedroom doors were traditional. Would definitely stay again."

  • Beautiful house

"We loved our stay at the All Seasons Waterfront Villa on the Hood Canal. It's an absolutely beautiful area, and the house is right on the water with a large yard, steps leading down to the beach, and fantastic views over the canal and the hills beyond. The house is large and very well-appointed; three full bedrooms, two full baths, and enough separation between the master bedroom and the others so people can spread out a bit and have some privacy. Hiking, biking, kayaking, and other adventures await in the surrounding area. Just up the road is Kayak Brinnon, where we rented kayaks and gear to go crabbing, catching ourselves some nice red rock crab for dinner. There's only a few downsides. First, the area is fairly remote, and it's at least a 30-minute drive to the nearest proper grocery store (not including a gas station a mile or so up the road). Come prepared since there's no quick dash to the store to grab something you forgot. Second, the house comes without any cable or satellite TV service, and no real DVD collection to speak of. Bring a laptop (the Internet works fine) and an HDMI cable so you can play your own movies on the TV. Third, the hot tub is great but during our stay the thermostat was not working properly, and was overheating -- we found that leaving the cover off for a few hours would let it cool down."
