  • Very good.

"The Gladwin Cabin was a great place for our family's long weekend getaway. The log cabin, though an old structure with a single bathroom, is charming, essentially well cared for & equipped. The owners, Ali and Lance, were gracious hosts & responsive to the needs of our party, which included two toddlers & our family dog. The property, which is located directly on the canal, has a three foot concrete wall separating beach area from the backyard that was a bonus with our group. We enjoyed the access to nearby playground, the ability to walk to the state park & exploring the wonders of the shore."

  • Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful

"The cabin has amazing views of Hood Canal and the cabin is SO CLEAN! It isn't fancy or big, but it is well maintained and clean, without question. It is on the smaller side, so it's perfect for a couple or maybe a small family but there wouldn't be much privacy (the bathroom door doesn't fully shut to the bedroom - you can't really see in there, but you can hear). The kayaking is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't bring a personal kayak - stairs down to the water are steep and narrow. The dog thought it was the coolest thing when the tide came up and we had our own private little beach area. Not that I saw anyone else the entire stay, but it was fun to watch her experience the small waves coming in and running around like a silly dog. Definitely need water shoes or be willing to get your shoes wet as the waterfront area is big rocks and lots of big sharp shells. The hammock is the best place on the property, hands down. I spent hours there watching the water and even saw a family of otters one morning. I did see a sea lion while I was kayaking by myself and it followed me until I made it back to shore which I didn't like too much (they are big, they are called 'lions' for a reason and I think I was in it's fishing ground in the morning), but that is what I get for going on the water by myself. You can view all of the wildlife easily from the fantastic deck - watching the sea lion eat fish was much cooler while sipping tea on the deck :) The only downsides to the place is it is right off highway 101 which makes it a bit noisy when you are outside, but it's really not that bad, and the shower is pretty small. I am 5'3" so it wasn't a huge issue for me, but my husband is 6'1" and he had some space issues. But, there is some serious water pressure, so it's still a good shower in my book. Overall, a great cabin and I would highly recommend it to friends or family. Loved our stay and we will be coming back!!!"

  • The Perfect Puget Sound Beach House Getaway

"As usual, we found this venue to be the perfect Puget Sound getaway. We've stayed at the house three times and never had a single complaint. The location is spectacular. The house is the perfect beach house. It's comfortable but rugged so adults and kids alike can relax and not worry too much about sand on their feet. There are plenty of beds for big families like ours. Gig Harbor shops and restaurants are just minutes away. The owners are next door for emergencies but leave everyone in peace. An addition this time was good Wifi -- a mixed blessing. I used to have to go to the Rosedale Market to check email. Most people will like this upgrade but I was ambivalent. It's nice to be unplugged on vacation. But this isn't a criticism. As I said: this venue is the perfect Puget Sound beach getaway!"

  • Great amenities and a wonderful view

"This is a great house! Loaded with everything you need to relax and enjoy the great views. There was a large deck but we weren't able to use it due to weather. Bit of advice for people with very young children, there are no railings on the deck. Which is fine for older kids but left me unable to enjoy the deck at all. Also, bring a baby gate :) We will definitely be back."
