  • Peaceful perfection

"Our family of 6 (4 boys ages 9-19) were looking for a get-away not too far from home and this was perfect! The large windows and careful layout and plenty of bed space made us all very comfortable. Note: the only "closed" space in this cabin is the bathroom/laundry room area. We loved the LARGE deck and view of the inlet. It was quiet and remote with only the wildlife to watch! We had a need for an extra table for a puzzle and the caretaker was very accommodating by bringing her own card table for us to use. We enjoyed a day trip to Seattle via ferry, and a day walking under the Tacoma Narrows bridge and touring Point Defiance Park We enjoyed relaxing in the evening at home by the fire, making popcorn and playing games. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful place!"

  • Best Studio in Tacoma's Theater District

"Laura made my first VRBO experience easy and wonderful. She was quick to respond about the rental and to any questions I had during my stay. She even had a bottle of wine, chocolates, and coffee for my arrival. I stayed in her studio for 3 months while I was doing a travel nurse assignment at Multicare-Tacoma General. It was within walking distance to the hospital and to all the great restaurants, breweries, theaters, and museums. The studio is spacious and beautifully decorated with art by her, her husband, or friends of theirs. It has an updated kitchen equipped with everything you need and a large bathroom with a shower and Jacuzzi tub. The balcony is spacious as well and has a very nice grill connected to a gas line. In the 3 months I stayed in Laura's studio, I only had to buy food at the grocery store. She has the place fully stocked with bathroom supplies (towels, shampoo/conditioner, body soap, lotion, hand soap, toilet paper, tissue paper) and kitchen supplies (dishwasher soap, paper towels, trash bags, cleaning supplies). The studio is also pet friendly. I had my 4 year old Great Dane with me. There is a park very close by with lots of green space and dog poop bags. Laura also provides garage parking. Everything about this Theater District studio is perfect."

  • Comfortable "like home" beach house

"Our extended family of 9 had a very enjoyable weekend at the Allyn beach house. The beach house is comfy, roomy, with a lived-in feel and the benefits of a hot tub fronting the beach. Bring your sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses as the deck and beach are sunny all day long. There is a nice covered portion of the patio with some deck chairs if you want to hang out in the shade. The tide goes out a long way and the sand can get mucky the further out you walk. However, when the tide comes in it is perfect for a canoe ride. The upstairs rooms got a bit warm on the weekend we were there (90 degree weather!) Fans were available to make it comfortable to sleep. We had a great time!"

  • Perfect family getaway

"We stayed at this place in early October which means rainy season, but with the house's many large windows (including skylights in the upstairs bedroom), we were able to watch the storms over the water from a very peaceful, relaxing, and warm house. The rain on the skylights upstairs made for an incredibly soothing night's sleep as well, but also offered a great natural way to wake up as the sun came over the trees in the morning. The gas fireplace was perfect for curling up to next to a book, and our dogs loved the fact they could go out in the front yard and run around for a bit. In the morning we were able to go to not one, but two different beaches at low tide (look at the map - you're half a block away in two directions from two different sides of the island) and pick sand dollars, look for crabs, and enjoy the sunrises. From this place, you're about a 10 minute drive from the infamous Vashon Island lighthouse on one side, and a 10 minute drive from the town of Vashon on the other, depending if you like to hike around or shop. We had six people in the house and it still felt plenty big. We cooked up a storm and the kitchen was very well stocked with all of the utensils, pots, pans, beer and wine openers you could ever need, and the grill worked great. Highly recommend, would definitely stay again!"
