  • Delightful and lively spot with great ferry viewing, right on the beach!

"The moment I arrived, a neighbor happened by and immediately offered a hand with my luggage – a most helpful and welcome start to a fantastic mini vacation. Keep in mind this charming and tidy two bedroom is a little bit like apartment living since it is a ground-level unit. As long as you're OK with that, all will be well. Among other things, we appreciated the fresh linens and quality dishes and flatware. The full-size washer and dryer were a huge plus. The kitchen had all that was necessary and if we needed anything, the owner was easy to reach. Communications via phone/email were swift and efficient. If I could have changed anything, it would have been to have blackout curtains in the bedrooms since the morning light is good and I'm a light sleeper :-( . But that's a personal issue (and not enough to keep me from wanting to come back). It's a short walk to Rapid Transit and the Fauntleroy ferry, the owner even provides schedules. The ferries aren't just fun to watch, they're exhilarating to ride especially if you've never done so. You could walk to the terminal, ride round trip to and from Vashon Island and be back in an hour for a quick adventure guaranteed to thrill the photographer in your group. Endolyne Joe's (American food) and The Original Bakery are an easy walk away. And West Seattle is just loaded with great places to shop and dine! N.B. The steep driveway and steps down to the unit may present a challenge for those with mobility concerns. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and hope to return! Thank you, Janet!"

  • Great Vacation Rental

"This is an excellent property, well maintained and equipped. We had our daughter and her family as well as ourselves stay for 9 days and found it to be all we could have wanted. Desiree was a wonderful hostess always attentive to any question we had and even provided complimentary wine for us as well as bringing over a poinsettia for the holidays. The home is close to anything you want in West Seattle including many fine restaurants. All in all, just a wonderful time. Thanks Desiree!!"

  • Five fabulous days right on the water!

"I was one of their first guests. The cottage is magical, comfortable, cozy and has everything one could possibly need or want for a vacation stay, well equipped kitchen, great beds, and a wonderful deck with killer views. It's delightful when you enter the cottage.... you're greeted by a host of artwork...treasures and whimsy...it's easy to see that the owners are world travelers! Close by and convenient were all the numerous things they suggested we could do. Alki beach, resturants and the water taxi into Seattle and more!. This is a great place to stay and come "home" to after spending hours being "tourists! great location, great stay, I can't think of a better place to spend a week or a week-end or more! We definitely plan to return!"

  • A spacious, well stocked, well maintained, beautiful property in a great location

"Lots of room and a great option for a multi generation / friends & family stay, even on a winter Seattle weekend! The kitchen is huge and very well stocked, there is lots of pantry space for your items, an eight burner gas stove with a large and small oven and even a Miele steamer oven which had not even been used yet. There is one queen bedroom with an adjacent bathroom on the main floor with the open concept kitchen, family room and dining room. (If you had someone in your party who would have trouble with stairs, this would be the bedroom for them as all the other bedrooms are up or down) The lower floor has a queen bedroom and spacious bath with extra floor space that was the teen hangout - to say the massage chair was a hit would be an understatement! The upper floor has the king master suite (which seriously is probably the size of your first apartment) with french doors that open to the deck, one bedroom with a double bed, TV and fireplace that also opens to the front deck , and the bedroom with the two double beds. The last two bedrooms share a nice bathroom. The structure at the top of the house is accessible by a fold-away ladder, our relatives got some amazing sunset view photos up there. Rich, the owner, was great to work with, promptly answering any questions by email in advance of our visit. A couple of notes on winter public transportation - the water taxi to downtown Seattle does not run on weekends, nor do the buses closest to the house. We didn't need either of those for our stay, so it wasn't an issue. The house is walking distance to Alki beach, where you can legally have a bonfire in the designated fire rings. In the summer, these are in high demand, this past weekend, we were one of three groups. Bring your own wood and blankets or chairs, a couple of the fire pits have logs to sit on. It's a no-alcohol beach, there are bars and restaurants directly across the street. I would highly recommend this property, it is probably the first rental property we have stayed at that truly had everything we needed!!"
