  • Nice Fall Retreat

"We had a nice weekend away. The lake is quiet and relaxing in the fall. The views from the cabin are lovely. We appreciated the kitchen stocked with cooking pans etc. and the sense of privacy. The few minor points being the carpets, downstairs bathroom, and couch are starting to show their age which was in contrast to the lovely sleigh beds and master bedroom. We would return- likely when the Canadian dollar improves as it did seem costly with the exchange and generous housekeeping fees. Overall quite happy!"

  • Relaxing weekend away with friends

"I decided to gather 9 of my closest friends for a weekend getaway just outside the city. Heading up to Guemes island was a mixture of fun adventure and relaxing getaway. We were able to enjoy our time and below I'll provide the pros/cons and my tips for future vacationers. Pros: The ferry was short, cheap, and travels across often. There was practically no noise, traffic, or other people around at all during our stay, the house is completely surrounded and feels very private. The house was very spacious and provided exactly what we needed for a short weekend away, including some board games and the garage entertainment (pool/ping pong) was greatly appreciated. The back deck is very spacious and it was very easy to accommodate everyone for relaxing and chatting in a large circle. The yard is also very spacious and can easily have multiple people running around at once. Cons: (Most of these cons were a result of me and not the house) There are only a few outdoor chairs, so bring some if you like to lounge. The ferry can only hold 20-22 cars at a time so get there a little early otherwise you may have to wait. There was no outdoor fire pit, which would have been really fun but again there was never one promised so I can't be upset about not having one. The propane tank was empty but we filled it at the local store and the home-owner reimbursed us, yay! Pro-tips: Do your research on the ferry schedule and get there 20-25 minutes early. Pack plenty of chairs and everything you'll need to enjoy they weekend (outdoor games, drinks, water, etc...). If you can't find the ping pong paddles look in the drawers by the garage sink... trust me... they are there! I recommend bringing flip flops or slippers since there is a lot of in and out of the back patio (lazy pro-tip). Bring fancy cooking utensils, the basics are there. The house was amazing and we had a great time, enjoy yourself and do the 1.1 mile Guemes Mountain hike, it was beautiful."

  • Magical weekend on the farm - We can't wait to go back!

"My family went to Hoehn Bend Farm to celebrate my 2 year old daughter's birthday. It was absolutely amazing! The setting is gorgeous and incredibly peaceful. Farmer Terry welcomed us on arrival and immediately set to work charming both my 2 and 5 year old girls. We were able to participate as fully as we wished in caring for the animals, and we all just loved it. We were lucky enough to be there during the spring and were able to watch a calf being born just feet away from us, hold 3 day old chicks (and big chickens too!), and steal peeks at a weeks-old barn owl in the rafters. Both Terry and Jean were so kind to my girls and made a point to make everything so interesting for all of us. On our way out, they took us on a jeep tour of the Terry's neighboring family farm, which was a totally different but equally gorgeous setting. Terry and Jean made everything such an adventure for my girls. They laughed their heads off going through the tree tunnels, snatching berries and cherries from the bushes and trees as we bounced past, and catching glimpses of the animals along the way. The farm house is so comfortable, and Jean has taken a great deal of care in stocking it with everything a family could possibly need, including toys/movies/books for the kids. I have nothing but praise for Hoehn Bend Farm, and, weeks later, my girls still ask every day about when we can go back!"

  • VACATION OF A LIFETIME

"Our family stayed at the Island House and let me tell you upon driving to the property its nothing like it appears at the beginning of the road. This house is a dream. We had the best time ever at this lovely home with all the creature comforts of home and more. The yard first of all is beautiful, breathtaking, soothing, and unbelievably gorgeous as you see a new part of the yard come to life each day with fresh blooms. Then the wild life come out little by little, the bunnies, the squirrels, the eagles, the hawks, the buck my husband watched early in the morning down by the water and then the big mouth bass he caught. That was awesome. Inside the house all the comforts you could want from a great big kitchen to bathrooms that allow you to relax and enjoy. We had a wonderful time while there and wish we had known what this property really was like because we would have loved to stay one more day. We were there for four days and loved every minute. Thanks to the owners who have obviously worked very hard to make this place special and beautiful, your love for this property shows in everything. Hope to return some day for another piece of your sweet paradise. Mahalo, The Bathe Ohana"
