Tranquil Lummi Island will entice you
Enjoy the festivals and other features of Lummi Island. This city's island views, beaches and hiking attract many visitors, and its relaxing and romantic location add to the charm. Many of our vacation rentals offer full kitchens, spacious living quarters and sometimes even a hot tub—perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Free yourself, mind, body, and soul, on Lummi Island
A Lummi Island vacation rental is the perfect place to clear your head. The historic Lummi Island Congregational Church, built in 1908, features a stone labyrinth for meditative walks on your way down to the beach. The Tree Frog Farm Natural Healing Arts Center offers bird watching, gardens, and energy healing sessions. Immerse yourself in the island's artist community at Lummi Island Gallery, with exhibits of local and African art, or during 1 of the open studio tours that occur periodically throughout the year. For fine local wines, check out Legoe Bay Winery.
Spoil yourself with unspoiled beaches and nature
There's no better way to get around the island than by bike. The scenic, winding roads will take you to picturesque hiking trails and windswept beaches. The sandy stretches are a great place to hunt for clams and sea glass, and you might even spot some Orca whales off the shore (be careful if you're kayaking). In town you'll find farmer's markets, local festivals, and holiday celebrations. You could spend a day finding the perfect one-of-a-kind souvenir at the boutiques and artisan galleries. Head to the aptly named Sunset Beach for stunning nightly displays.
The cool sea breezes are truly il-Lummi-nating
Lummi Island doesn't see much in the way of extremes when it comes to weather. Thanks to the surrounding sea waters, the average highs from May to September are comfortably in the upper 50s and 60s, peaking right around 70 in the warmest summer months of July and August. You'll see winter highs in the mid-40s from December to February, while lows are in the 30s overnight. Though the island gets significantly less rain than the coast of the mainland, you'll see most of it from November to January. Snow can happen, but it's rare.
Get ready to say goodbye to the urban grind
If you're craving a healthy dose of solitude, a Lummi Island vacation rental is just what the doctor ordered. With just a handful of tiny towns and none of the trapping of city life, you'll be at 1 with nature. The 9 square miles of the island are half pastoral land and half leafy mountain terrain. The tallest point is Lummi Mountain, which offers stellar views of the sea and neighboring islands. Among the trees you'll see plenty of deer, rabbits, and birds (bring those binoculars). The coasts are dotted with hidden sandy beaches just waiting to be discovered.
