  • Relaxing weekend away with friends

"I decided to gather 9 of my closest friends for a weekend getaway just outside the city. Heading up to Guemes island was a mixture of fun adventure and relaxing getaway. We were able to enjoy our time and below I'll provide the pros/cons and my tips for future vacationers. Pros: The ferry was short, cheap, and travels across often. There was practically no noise, traffic, or other people around at all during our stay, the house is completely surrounded and feels very private. The house was very spacious and provided exactly what we needed for a short weekend away, including some board games and the garage entertainment (pool/ping pong) was greatly appreciated. The back deck is very spacious and it was very easy to accommodate everyone for relaxing and chatting in a large circle. The yard is also very spacious and can easily have multiple people running around at once. Cons: (Most of these cons were a result of me and not the house) There are only a few outdoor chairs, so bring some if you like to lounge. The ferry can only hold 20-22 cars at a time so get there a little early otherwise you may have to wait. There was no outdoor fire pit, which would have been really fun but again there was never one promised so I can't be upset about not having one. The propane tank was empty but we filled it at the local store and the home-owner reimbursed us, yay! Pro-tips: Do your research on the ferry schedule and get there 20-25 minutes early. Pack plenty of chairs and everything you'll need to enjoy they weekend (outdoor games, drinks, water, etc...). If you can't find the ping pong paddles look in the drawers by the garage sink... trust me... they are there! I recommend bringing flip flops or slippers since there is a lot of in and out of the back patio (lazy pro-tip). Bring fancy cooking utensils, the basics are there. The house was amazing and we had a great time, enjoy yourself and do the 1.1 mile Guemes Mountain hike, it was beautiful."

  • Pictures do not do it justice

"Wonderful house, kitchen was very well stocked with spices, cookware, etc which is always a treat. The pictures of this property do not do it justice. Walking into the main room was breathtaking. Hanging out on a sunny day with the doors open was spectacular. Incredible value."

  • Beautiful waterfront home!

"We loved our time on Lummi Island, and this was a perfect home base. The house was beautiful, well-equipped and simply delightful. We found things just as we expected to. The short walk to the beach was perfect. The view from the (many) decks was peaceful. The openness of the home allowed our family great time together. We would happily return again! Lummi Island is a great place for a serene stay. We enjoyed exploring our own beach and others (especially near the church on the west side of the island) and we enjoyed hiking in one of the three preserves on the island. People on the island were friendly."

  • Perfect wooded getaway

"After carefully analyzing all the available houses on Orcas I hit the jackpot with my selection of Seacliff. I live on a tropical island with ocean views from the pool and lanai so was totally delighted with the amazing view from the elevated deck's spa tub. Loved the gas grill and cooked "at home" for 3 out of 4 nights. As others have noted the house is impeccably designed and furnished, thoughtful in all the amenities and beautifully situated for privacy. No neighbors, noise or lights. Doug's warm personal and thorough review of Seacliff and the area had me feeling settled in within minutes. The high point of my stay was watching the supermoon rise on a cloudless night and the ensuing eclipse. Priceless experience and a memory that will have me dreaming of this hideaway for years to come. I spent an entire day lounging in the window seat reading and watching the passing marine life and listening to the water. The house was the perfect size for a lady looking for tranquility, a change of scenery and an environment different from her own place in paradise."
