  • Fantastic lodgings

"We had a tremendous holiday on San Juan Island, no small part of which was this gracious lodging. We loved the ample space, the great windows and field views, the excellent kitchen facilities, the outdoor decks, the comfortable beds, and the proximity to everything. The hosts provided a notebook which was a great resource in planning our days (and dining). The hosts were readily available through email, and by phone when we encountered an internet issue. The weather was spectacular during our visit, biking, orcas, and hiking filled our days. A suggestion/recommendation: The house listing suggests that eight people can stay, but the living room furniture actually only comfortably accommodates three or four. Since there were just four of us, we worked it out. Aside from that, this was an amazing stay."

  • Very quiet with an amazing view

"We really enjoyed our stay at this quiet house right on the water. The view is amazing from within the house, our dog loved the easy access to the water, the yard is lit at night, and the fireplace is so convenient (gas with a thermostat). It's truly perfect for a couple getaway - kitchen is well equipped to prepare some nice meals. I wasn't super impressed by the gas grill, but I am used to charcoal, so it could be just me. There are loads of hiking and things to see nearby. We would surely like to come back and visit during the summer, where I am sure things are very different."

  • Perfect Christmas retreat

"I highly recommend this beautiful home in a perfect setting. We stayed for 5 days, including Christmas, with our adult children. Although I suppose it was off-season, we found the island to be perfect for relaxation, walks and exploring. The location of the property is close to both Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor, although Roche was pretty much closed up this time of year. However, Friday Harbor was bustling with holiday activity. The house itself has the best equipped kitchen of any VRBO house we've ever stayed in, so we mostly cooked at home, although we did have some excellent meals in town. The view from the deck and the master and downstairs bedrooms is spectacular and ever-changing. The furnishings are impeccable and the house has everything you could need. The downstairs bedroom and living space are perfect so that everyone can have their own space. There is even a ping pong table, which was much-used! It is a short drive to the Lime Kiln lighthouse where we saw 4 Orcas, an otter and seals. A friendly fox greeted us at the American Camp, also just a short drive away, and my daughter saw a bald eagle from the deck yesterday. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, from our first contact to our departure. Access to the house is simple and although we had no problems with the house while we were there, I am confident that Karen would have been be very responsive if she were needed. She was flexible with check-in and check-out times, which is very considerate since arrival and departure times depend, to some extent, on the ferry schedule and availability. She even provided the information needed to make ferry reservations. We recommend this property without reservation and hope to go back."

  • Samadhi house

"Nice house lively view. The kitchen was well supplied. Both bathrooms have deep jet tubs. This made it difficult for 2 of our ladies that have knee and balance issues. There was a walk-in shower upstairs. Again, same issues. But we had a good time. The sunsets were amazing. There are a couple things I wish we would have known before booking. It is on a primitive (rough) road with a steep gravel driveway. Some cars would really have trouble. Also, the fact that the entrance to the house is up 2 flights of stairs. The 4 beds on lower level can not be reached from inside the house. They are like a separate apt. I feel those things should be information to have before you decide to rent. If they are not an issue for your group, then enjoy your time."
