  • A Magical Family Get Away!!!!

"First of all, everything all the positive previous reviews had to say about this property including: the location, the hosts Judy & Greg, the Dots, the Family Friendly nature of the property, the charm and character, the bedrooms and comfy beds, the apportions in the kitchen and linens, the outdoor playhouse, fire pit and grill, etc., etc., etc. are absolutely true! We stayed at the Dot house over Thanksgiving weekend with one other family (4 adults and 3 kids) and easily could have fit another family and/or a few more people comfortably in the house. The kids had a fantastic time playing outside and in the outdoor play house, we went on walks to the water and took short drives into town to take in the character of the island and enjoy the food and shops, saw lots of wild life and ended each night with beverages and warmth next to the outdoor and indoor fires. The kitchen and many apportions that came with it made cooking Thanksgiving Dinner easy and the large table and fire made for a festive and comfy place to enjoy the meal and each others company. And the nice and large bedrooms allowed us to put the kids down at their bedtime but stay up and enjoy each others company and play cards after they were down for the night. And last, but certainly not least, Judy and Greg are the perfect and kindest of hosts. They welcomed us to their property, told us everything we needed to know, helped out when appropriate, let us swing by to say hi when we wanted, but also gave us our space and let us enjoy our rest and relaxation time at their magical Island House in the middle of the woods on Friday Harbor. It was a lifetime memory that our kids continue to talk about several days later and we will all remember fondly for the rest of our lives. Thanks to Judy and Greg and the Dot House for providing us with this lovely and most memorable of experiences! If you are looking for your own Island getaway with friends or family, I am confident you won't be disappointed with this option!"

  • Perfect!

"Our family of 4 just stayed at this property for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The home is older but well maintained. It was very clean, tidy and comfortable. There's plenty of room to spread out. The decks on the front and back of the home are a comfortable place to relax, play games or eat a meal. There were several deer that visited the property throughout the week included a pair of bucks. One advantage of this home is the location. It's close enough to town and shopping yet far enough away to be in the country. It's very peaceful. We saved ourselves quite a bit of money by eating most of our meals at the home. The kitchen was nicely stocked with cookware and dishes to make that possible. Overall we were very pleased and would rent here again."

  • Family Reunion Perfection, Neighbor Harrassment, Not So Much...

"We rented both homes recently for a family reunion (18-20 people). The property, set on a beautiful orchard and inlet, was absolutely stunning. Both homes were lovely, clean and well-equipped--other than a few light switches that didn't work and some difficulty with the Beach House wi-fi everything was in working order. We had a couple of elderly parents with us and so the Beach House, with it's large outside porch, lot's of comfortable seating and no stairs was a perfect spot for them to be. The ONLY reason I did not give this property a 5-star rating is because of the issues with the neighbors regarding beach access. The property was advertised as having "beach access" and it wasn't until the week before we were to arrive that I was notified of a "4 year lawsuit" that the owners and their neighbors have been involved in regarding beach access for the renters of these properties. I was provided with the legal document, dated August of 2013 granting beach access to renters until the lawsuit is finally settled. I was told that "During past rentals one of our neighbors told our guests that they did not have access to the waterfront, which is completely false" and that "If someone does approach, you just tell them they are wrong and that you know you can use the waterfront. I’ve already talked to the local sheriff and provided them with a copy of the order as well. " Although I did wonder why I was just now getting notified, a week before our scheduled arrival, the directions seemed straightforward and so none of us were concerned. We were not prepared for the level of initial harassment that we received however. Obviously this has been a long-standing disagreement, breeding much resentment and obsession by the neighborhood association. From the first moment we set foot on the beach (which truly you would only be on to launch a kayak--it's a muddy beach at low tide) we were told we couldn't be there, argued with, threatened with Sheriff contact, and given dirty looks once they realized were weren't going anywhere. We are not a rowdy group, we gave them no reason to be bothered by us, yet the comments and threats of "calling the Sheriff" continued throughout the first 2 days. I guess once they saw we were weren't going to bother them, they backed off. Although their behavior absolutely did NOT ruin our gathering--it actually just added to our adventure, it was initially disconcerting and we should have been better prepared for the reality."

  • Fantastic Thanksgiving/Family Reunion!

"Four couples came together for a Thanksgiving Family Reunion. This home was perfect for us. The location is very private with great outdoor space and water views. With two dishwashers, two sinks, and a professional stove/oven, the kitchen couldn't have been better to prepare a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The large Sub-Zero has a refrigerator with plenty of room for groceries. Can't say enough positive things about Beth & Gary, your property managers. They were extremely responsive and helpful. As another reviewer noted, some additional instructions about how to work things around the house like the fireplaces, heating system and TV's would be helpful. We had a fabulous time and your wonderful home had a lot to do with it. Would absolutely recommend this property."
