  • Magical!

"After 18 years together we finally tied the knot, and we chose the Haro Haiku for our honeymoon getaway. We could not have been more pleased and feel that 5 stars may not be quite enough to express how much we loved this property! After a year of planning and executing a large and elaborate wedding we needed to recharge our batteries and recenter ourselves. This location was exactly what we needed! The home is beautiful and peaceful and the location is magical. After a meandering drive off the main coastal road you reach the driveway that winds down to the house which is tucked away from the world in the heart of the west coast of the island. We spent our mornings sipping coffee listening to and watching the birds, and then twice we were able to listen to and watch the whales from the deck for hours at a time. Yep, just sitting in comfy chairs in our PJs watching whales in their natural habitat without disturbing or disrupting them. We were also able to watch whales at the Wildlife Preserve just up the coast. We ate breakfast at the table on the deck, and had glorious seafood feasts at the bar in the kitchen. We spent the majority of our days beach combing, visiting lighthouses, watching wildlife around the island and going on excursions. We gratefully returned to the Haro Haiku each night feeling lucky to have such a beautiful place to call home during our visit. In the evenings we played games found in the entry closet at the dining room table with a view of the night time ocean, and woke up each morning to the peaceful view of the Olympic mountains and Haro straight. The beds are fantastic, and I may be buying a new mattress after sleeping on the Tuft & Needle in the master bedroom! Before making the reservation I had hesitations about the property owner being on site, but it was a complete non-issue. I met Stephanie one morning at her residence and she was delightful. She and her husband are nearby if you need them, but while at the property you do not feel as though you are being supervised in any way. I can not wait to return to this property to enjoy the island again with my family. My husband wrote a haiku in honor of our stay... The serenity Days and nights filled with beauty Our souls have been cleansed"

  • Great place!

"We've been going to SJI for 20+ years and this is one of our favorites places. The house is beautiful, clean, stocked and in a great location. In the morning we sipped our coffee from the deck looking at the beautiful view. In the afternoon we went paddling and then walked to Roche. In the evening we enjoyed the sunset making dinner in the awesome kitchen and then played ping pong well into evening. And I appreciate that it's pet friendly. It's so hard to find a great place like this that accepts dogs. Thank you for letting us stay there. We'll be back for sure."

  • Beautiful week on Lopez

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this house! The location is ideal. It is close enough to Lopez Village to bike there easily, and Spencer Spit is only a mile away. The huge lawn with a view of the sound is awesome for playing games like badminton and volleyball! We brought our dog with and were happy to find out that there is also a fenced in area for your dog to run around a bit while you are home. The kitchen is awesome, with really beautiful appliances - especially for a rental. There are so many games to play, and puzzles to work on that you don't need to bring your own. The walk to the beach is very short, and although it is steep but we had no problem getting our kayaks down. You will see deer in the early morning and evenings. Also, a blue heron likes to sit down by the waters edge. Seals were spotted too! The beds are comfortable and it is very quiet at night here. The only thing that I would recommend for the owner if they plan on renovating in the future is that it would be great if there was one more bathroom, preferably not attached to a bedroom. Right where the game room is now would be ideal! We would definitely stay here again."

  • Quiet cabin in the woods

"We arrived at dusk after a long travel day. Wandering down a quiet country lane and finding a sweet little cabin overlooking the water with a view if sailboats and ferries as they go along their routes. The cabin was clean, quiet and the kitchen well stocked with cookware and essentials. Nice linens on the beds and in the bathrooms. We especially appreciated the puzzles ! My family managed to complete three! We played a few rounds of croquet and tossed a frisbee in the yard. Rich was very easy to work with and available when I thought I'd misplaced the entry code. Thank you so much for sharing your gem of a cabin. It is obviously a place of joy and relaxation for you and your family. We loved exploring Lopez and would love to return."
