  • Beautiful secluded retreat on Orcas Island!

"Recently stayed at this wonderful, secluded property on Orcas Island. We were impressed by how welcoming this home was - plenty of kitchen space for cooking meals and a large open floor plan with large windows, beautiful back porch with lovely views of the sound, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Also just a short drive into town for activities. What a treat!"

  • Magical!

"After 18 years together we finally tied the knot, and we chose the Haro Haiku for our honeymoon getaway. We could not have been more pleased and feel that 5 stars may not be quite enough to express how much we loved this property! After a year of planning and executing a large and elaborate wedding we needed to recharge our batteries and recenter ourselves. This location was exactly what we needed! The home is beautiful and peaceful and the location is magical. After a meandering drive off the main coastal road you reach the driveway that winds down to the house which is tucked away from the world in the heart of the west coast of the island. We spent our mornings sipping coffee listening to and watching the birds, and then twice we were able to listen to and watch the whales from the deck for hours at a time. Yep, just sitting in comfy chairs in our PJs watching whales in their natural habitat without disturbing or disrupting them. We were also able to watch whales at the Wildlife Preserve just up the coast. We ate breakfast at the table on the deck, and had glorious seafood feasts at the bar in the kitchen. We spent the majority of our days beach combing, visiting lighthouses, watching wildlife around the island and going on excursions. We gratefully returned to the Haro Haiku each night feeling lucky to have such a beautiful place to call home during our visit. In the evenings we played games found in the entry closet at the dining room table with a view of the night time ocean, and woke up each morning to the peaceful view of the Olympic mountains and Haro straight. The beds are fantastic, and I may be buying a new mattress after sleeping on the Tuft & Needle in the master bedroom! Before making the reservation I had hesitations about the property owner being on site, but it was a complete non-issue. I met Stephanie one morning at her residence and she was delightful. She and her husband are nearby if you need them, but while at the property you do not feel as though you are being supervised in any way. I can not wait to return to this property to enjoy the island again with my family. My husband wrote a haiku in honor of our stay... The serenity Days and nights filled with beauty Our souls have been cleansed"

  • Great family vacation

"We really enjoyed our two weeks at Saltaire. It was a great place for a family vacation. The house was perfect to house our family including the 4 bedrooms. We had grandparents, parents, young adults, teenagers and a two year old. We all loved the easy access to the beach and the wonderful hot tub where we watched the fireworks on July 4th. The kitchen had everything we needed and we used the barbecue often. It was great to have a washer and dryer which were well used. The family made use of the bikes. We went forn great walks. Each morning we would wake up to see the Eagles in the tree in front of the house. On two occasions we saw whales going by right from our patio. The weather was great, shopping was close, restaurants near. Never took more than five minutes to drive anywhere in Point Roberts.we loved having the yard and garbage collection looked after. Both the private back patio and the front patio were well used. The back patio was enclosed and great for the two year old to play bubbles and ball games and be in a safe and protected space. The front patio was wonderful to sunbathe, have meals sit and enjoy the magnificent view. All in all it was a terrific two weeks. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home."
