  • Crystal Rainier Retreat

"This was a very nice house conveniently located near Mount Rainier National Park and many of the places that we wanted to visit. It was clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, spa, and downstairs game area (with toys and games for both adults and kids). We especially enjoyed the outdoors fire pit (although the barbeque grill was not functional). There are two bedrooms with beds and two lofts with futons. This was not ideal for our large group, which included 8 adults and 2 very young children, but was acceptable. The sleeping arrangements would be fine for a slightly smaller group or with older children. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider renting the Crystal Rainier Retreat again at some time in the future."

  • Great for family bonding

"We rented this cabin for President’s Day and had a very good time. The owner was very accommodating, the cabin is cozy and has everything you might need, including washer and dryer, which is nice in the winter time, especially when it’s pouring rain. White Pass is 12 miles away and is a nice little resort for beginning skiers (+ there is a child care center). The cabin is in a cul-de-sac so it’s safe for kids to play, it’s in the woods and there is a little stream, so it’s just perfect. There is no wifi and close to no phone service; we could do texts but that’s it, which was great! The hot tub is really nice, and big, the house warms up really fast. We had the 3 kids sleep in the loft (there could have been a 4th child up there but… we only have 3!), and us parents slept on the couch in the living room. We put the mattress on the floor, it was super comfortable and SO quiet, we slept like babies, 12 hours per night. I hope we will go back again."

  • Clean, comfortable, quiet, shady, great location for our hikes.

"We enjoyed our 7-night stay at this cute well-appointed, little cabin, despite some very hot days and nights! Some minor maintenance needed, though, which hopefully will be done before the next guests arrive: nearly-plugged bathroom sink and broken stopper; some bathroom wallpaper loose; hot water thermostat set at scalding temperature; braided rug in kitchen unravelling; tree leaves obscuring the sign at the cul-de-sac drive to the cabin; TV's remote device needs new batteries; and one inexpensive bed was uncomfortable. The bed in the north-facing room (with a door) was very good quality, although the owner should replace it's old electric blanket with a new non-electric blanket. Also, the cabin should be supplied with a fan in the living area downstairs during the hot-weather season. Luckily, we brought one with us! There were good fans, though, in the two bedrooms upstairs--which were a big relief and necessary to be on low during the day to keep the area from getting too hot. We loved the well-equipped kitchen, with it's big refrigerator and lots of implements! We also enjoyed watching the Olympics in the evening on the big-screen TV. The bathroom had a great shower, and there were plenty of towels, etc. The cabin had a wonderful deck with a table and chairs, but we didn't use it much. We appreciated the trees surrounding the cabin, giving it shade throughout the day and dampening Highway 12 traffic not far below. It was easy for me to book the cabin and communicate with the property managers (and the owner). Still waiting for the refundable deposit, however (nearly 4 days after we checked out and left it in good shape). We recommend this cabin to future guests, especially a small family or two single people--any time of the year! Thank you very much, Mr. Darvel Lloyd (age 73) Portland, OR"
