  • Thanksgiving weekend on San Juan Island

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had the pleasure of spending a very enjoyable family weekend at Rocky Bay Retreat on San Juan Island for Thanksgiving weekend. The house was very nice inside; clean, spacious, and comfortable. We especially liked the openness between the living room, dining area, and kitchen, which made it nice when we were all together. The house was also well stocked with anything we needed. The location was beautiful, and quiet, being at the end of the road, and maybe more so since it was Thanksgiving weekend. It was also very easy to find with the directions we were given, even in the dark. Reserving the house was easy and we were given all the information we needed in a timely manner. This is a great place and highly recommended."

  • Stay here - you won't be sorry.

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay here was wonderful. The view is beyond description. It's out a little from Friday Harbor, but a sweeping 180 degree view of water and islands from the deck that you wouldn't get in town made it well worth the little extra travel. The rental agency was fantastic, and when they weren't sure we'd have a pizza pan at the house, Kyle loaned us her personal pan and even brought it to the house! We only had one issue, and that was trying to get the DVD player to work. Even then, the agent put us in touch with the owner to try to figure it out. The owner was also responsive and helpful. My only suggestion for improvement would be to update the welcome book to contain very detailed instructions about the DVD player. TV operating instructions were fine. Everything was as advertised and the home was comfy and cozy. Make sure you bring your camera because you won't be able to take enough pictures and you won't get tired of the view. Also, we used Becky at Rhodes Taxi to get us around the island and she provided lots of travel commentary as she shuttled us place to place. She was always on time, very upbeat, and seemed to know everything about the island. We'd come back here in a flash."

  • Functional house in a convenient location

"We are a family of 6 with four young children (4 yr-old and under), so functionality of the house and location were high on our list. The house has all 3 bedrooms upstairs, which worked great for us. One of them has a low queen bed, which was perfect for our two oldest kids (falling off the bed is low-impact!). We also enjoyed the good-size living area downstairs, with open floor plan. Bonus was the deck with views of the river, from which we enjoyed several dinners. As noted in other reviews the house is on the older side, so the floor is creaky upstairs, etc. If you've never lived in an old house this may feel weird. We were fine with it. Location was perfect. There is a great playground on the street the house is located on (a level street, which you'll come to appreciate in Hood River). Super convenient with the kids who could use their scooter to get there (a 3 minute walk). Oak street is a 5 minute walk going, 10 minute coming back. It is STEEP. We could not push our double stroller with the older kids in it on the last stretch (7th street). But the very steep sections (on State and 7th) are short. Overall very satisfied."
