  • Pleasant Stay

"Spent a pleasant and comfortable weekend at Lazy Day despite the 95-100 degree weather. The cottage was clean, nicely furnished and well-equipped. No need for the hot tub but the screened porch provided a temporary escape from the air conditioner. There is plenty to do if you're a hiker, cyclist, or just enjoy hanging out."

  • Historical and Very Relaxing!

"My husband and I were searching for a comfortable Appalachian farmhouse to stay in for a few days in West Virginia, and the Old Homestead fit the bill perfectly. We were pleased that the house had modern conveniences, yet retained enough of it's historical flair to keep it very interesting and unique. Sally did a great job in renovating this place and provided plenty of information on the history of the families and the structure. My husband and I are very interested in antique furniture and historical architecture, so this was perfect for us! I especially enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond and watching the birds at the feeder in the backyard. We were even visited by a cute little nuthatch, much to my husband's delight! There were plenty of acres on the property to wander around on and the path down to the pond made it super easy to access. The farmhouse is pretty close to town, so it was easy to shoot down the hill to the springs and the shops. We were pleasantly surprised by the water in the springs. My husband was very skeptical, but we could tell it made our skin softer. We had to take some home for a keepsake! There are plenty of quaint little shops in town to check out and everyone in town was really friendly and welcoming. Sally was very responsive throughout the whole process and very patient with us. Even when I was sending her silly questions through email and calling her up when we couldn't find the driveway. We had a great time and can't wait to come back to visit again. Thank you so much for your hospitality!!"

  • Comfortable relaxing get-away

"I've stayed at this cabin several times and always enjoy coming to the area. Our favorite things to do: - Soak away our worries in the hot tub. - Make s'mores by the campfire - Marvel at how many stars you can see in the sky - Relax away from the city - Explore the woods, the creek, and run around the ball park with our dog - Go whitewater rafting in Harper's Ferry, bike the C&O towpath, walk through the PawPaw tunnel. - Soak in the baths and get a massage at Berkeley Springs State Park - Swim in the neighborhood lake - Sit, eat, and drink on the screened-in porch - Play table-top shuffleboard in the game room - Play the piano in the loft - Family game night by the wood stove There is plenty to do in the area or sometimes we just hang out all weekend long in the comfortable relaxing cabin."

  • Great stay!

"My family (hubby and two 7 yr olds) stayed for four days for a summer vacation. It is a gorgeous home that was at once homey while not feeling like you were staying in someone else's home. (We've stayed in places where they had full side buffets filled with china and family pics). The property was sweet with quiet woodland all around. It is perfectly situated between cacapon state park and downtown Berkeley Springs. The gravel road to get there was worrisome at times, but we got used to it eventually. One of the nicest homes we've rented. Thanks!"
