  • Beautiful and convenient historic home with extremely thoughtful hosts

"My family and I stayed at the Antietam Guest House for one night with our dog. Tim and Vernell provided us with a lot of helpful information about the house and were always quick to respond to my emails. When we arrived, we were surprised to find that they had provided some bagels, jams, and juice for our breakfast the following morning. The house itself is beautiful. We spent a lovely evening on the main floor catching up, using the huge book of local menus to order dinner, flipping through the books and articles the hosts have on the local history. As we paged through one book about Sharpsburg, we realized that Tim and Vernell had written it! It's the perfect place for Civil War buffs and people who just want to learn more about the area. The full bathroom was very spacious and clean with many fresh towels available. The basement/street-level floor was also very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom and landing was nicely laid out and quite cozy. We would have loved to make more use of the deck, but it rained the evening that we were in Sharpsburg, and we had to be up early the next day for the race. Our dog loved roaming around the backyard though. Following our return home, I got a call from Vernell mentioning that she had kept an eye out for us at the race and would be sending us a couple of things that we had left behind. I would recommend this home to almost any group. The only exception I would make is for anyone who has trouble getting up and down stairs, as the steps are a bit shallow and steep––just like any home of its age. The location is terrific, and the interior of the house will make you feel quite comfortable. I wish we could've stayed for a few more days to enjoy it a bit more. The owners are very organized and kind. They seem focused on providing an easy and comfortable experience for all of their guests."

  • What a lovely spot!

"This was the annual cousins weekend , and your great home and property set a very high standard for future outings. We walked the battlefield daily, but still managed the nice walk up the lane to the road turning up or down the road alternatively. We enjoyed a cocktail in the evening on the rock patio and grilled out most evenings. We found the historic home to our liking and well equipped. All in all it was a great week spent in a memorable setting. Thanks for everything"
