  • A great place to stay

"Rose Cottage We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the mountains. The cottage was clean, cozy and inviting. We went to the state park to hike and swim and toured the Seneca cavern. We would have been content to just relax at the cottage. it is decorated very nicely."

  • Just the kind of mountain cabin you'd want for a family get together!

"Our family gathered in Basye to celebrate our son's graduation from JMU, just 40 minutes down the road. We had about 12 people come together, and the cabin was absolutely perfect for the occasion. Each room has a comfortable queen-size bed, there are two and a half baths, and there was plenty of living space for folks to spread out. With 12 people, all but one being an adult, you have a number of cars, and there was even plenty of space for 5 cars to park. It all really worked out well. The cabin is rustic, clean and welcoming. Brad was excellent in his communication, yet he was not fussy about the arrangements. He answered any questions I had, but he did not hound us with check in or check out procedures. It was all professional yet casual. Thanks, Brad! The cabin is in a very hilly community of homes that appeared to be primarily second homes. It had a real mountain charm. All amenities were accurately represented in the description, the property was clean and I would recommend it to friends looking for a place in the area."

  • Summer stay at Hawthorne House

"My husband, dog, and I had a great time staying at the Hawthorne House. The kitchen was well equipped and the house overall was beautifully decorated. With all the decks and porches, there was always an outdoor space to use, rain or shine, sunrise or sunset. There were quite a few deer to watch in the woods around the house. The old oak trees with ferns all over the forest floor, the lichen-covered rock formations, the tall, mature, rhododendron along the drive, and what I think were wild blueberry bushes below the back of the house, among everything else, made for a lovely private and natural looking setting. Even though we visited in the middle of the summer, the nights and mornings were cool and we hardly used the air conditioning since the house had great cross ventilation between the slide glass doors -- so the stay was a nice break from the unbearable DC summer."

  • Lovely and relaxing!

"Well equiped and spacious house. Good place to get away from busy cities during our 3 week roadtrip through Canada-USA. Kids enjoyed the basement (pingpong, darts, Netflix) and outdoor. There was a little problem with access to the house, but it was resolved very quickly by the owners and a neighbour. Because of this little issue they gave us a discount, very generous. Communication was quick and good."
