  • Perfect place for families

"We kept repeating over the weekend how this property has everything you could possibly want in a weekend visit with our families! We rented both the Hummingbird and the Chickadee - having both bathrooms and more than enough bedrooms for our 3 families was a great choice for us. We enjoyed the bonfire pit (compete with firewood so we didn't have to go searching for any), the screen porch - the kids spent many hours playing the throwback games, swinging in the hammock, and we even did both our dinners out there, lawn games in the huge yard, and even TVs in several rooms for those times when you just want to throw on a cartoon to occupy the kids or news while you drink your coffee. Kevin has an eye for design as it was very well decorated. We stayed here for the Kite Festival and hope to come back next year - great proximity to the lake (we didn't bike due to the ages of our small kids, but the trail is right there). All together it was an awesome rental and we hope to do it again next year!"

  • Words are inadequate, but I'll try...

"For months we planned and pinched pennies to enable getting away for a few days for our 25th anniversary. Toward the end it seemed that the universe was conspiring against our going, but we remained determined. As you can imagine, our expectations grew and grew. It'd be easy to enable the unachievable in our minds but for the reality we experienced which eclipsed all fantasy, wild and otherwise. The guest house is everything the VRBO described. Missing, however, in the description was the differentiating and critical contributor to the experience - the host family. Angelle and David, and their commical overgrown puppy made us feel like we were visiting distant but loved family. We will miss them most of all - at least until we can return. Now, if you're holding out for summer, and you may, you'd be depriving yourself of the fall and winter wonder that this property offers. Leaves changing, falling, exposing the hidden places deer and other animals hide, and eventually being covered in beautiful white snow - all with the beauty and mystery that Lake Michigan offers when the winds howl and stir. Of course you may elect to watch it all play out from one of the many balconies, or through the plethora of panoramic windows, but why when you can take a short walk right to the beach and commune with Nature as God presents it. The location is ideally centered between Manitowoc and Sheboygan, each a short but idealic country drive away. Lots of wonderful state parks, sand dunes, trails too plentiful to count. ...or just hide away in or near the home and catch up on all that reading you've been putting off (or write that novel churning in your head). The home seems way off the beaten path (like witness protection program remote), yet nowhere near inconvenient should you want to run to a store or restaurant. We havent seen that many stars at night in a long, long time. Thanks for setting that up. The home is fully equipped with everything one could want or need to cook in or out, ...well, only you can determine your food preferences, as it should be. Decor was perfect. Tasteful. Not overdone. Simple. Very modern appliances. Furnishings were all more comfortable than our own. Gas fireplace in the walk-out master bedroom next to king bed. Adjacent bathroom with really, really great water pressure in the shower. Gas grill outside. Firewood-stocked ring out on the sandy beach next to plentiful furnishings to rest and contemplate on. Just go!"

  • Comfortable, secluded cabin

"We stayed at the cabin with another couple for a long weekend around a Greenbay Packer game. The location was good for an easy drive to Greenbay. The cabin is very comfortable for two couples. The kitchen was more than adequate for meal preparation. We enjoyed sitting outside on the decks for a relaxing weekend. Overall, a very enjoyable stay."

  • A hidden gem in a central location: very kid-friendly!

"My family chose this home to be where we stayed while vacationing in the Two Rivers region in August. We liked that it was reasonably priced and had enough bedrooms for us each to have our own (a master and two additional bedrooms). But once we were actually in the home, there was so much more to like and love than just that! The home itself is from the early 1900s, but the inside has clearly been updated and carefully maintained. The house itself is on a four lane pseudo highway, but beyond the road is nothing but lake. There is only a neighbor on one side: the back of the house backs up to a field, and the other side neighbors a credit union (meaning that it closes at the end of business hours at which point it is quiet). The backyard is flanked by big, old evergreens for privacy, and has an extraordinary covered deck area with lots of furniture and grills and fire pit. There is a garage that contains fire starting materials and a space in the garage for guests' use. The house itself is beautifully decorated: the furniture is sturdy and timeless and there are lots of pillows and blankets strategically placed about for curling up near the big windows, or the gas fireplace in the evening (our dog loved laying on the carpet as close as he could to the hearth each evening after the kids went to sleep). The floor plan of the main level is quite open, the dining room, living room and spacious kitchen each pouring into one another. There is a little powder room off the kitchen, and a french door that leads down to the basement or the backyard door (providing nice noise-dampening for nighttime laundry). The basement itself is semi-finished, with some tables for adults and kids and some board games on shelves, and a laundry set for guests' use. The bedrooms have incredibly comfortable beds, ample storage, and cute decor. The master has a queen bed, the first guest room has what appears to be a double/full, and the third a twin. The upstairs bath has a shower/tub combo. The house is located very well to major roads, so trips into door county and appleton were easy. The local beaches (particularly Nashota) are meticulously maintained and near lots of good food/fun options. All in all, this was a wonderful home, and a nice area. We would definitely return."
