  • Beautiful & Relaxing Stay @ the Big Chill

"We would highly recommend Big Chill for your next vacation spot. It was private & tranquil. We planned on going into Milwaukee for a day trip, but honestly we had so much fun @ the house we never left except to go grocery shopping. The kids spent hours in the pool & combing the beach. Lake Michigan was still a bit chilly in Mid June, but we still kayaked & played along the shore. Couldn't have been more pleased!!"

  • Unplug for the most relaxing weekend imaginable

"When my wife and I found this listing, we thought it was too good to be true. Surely there was a catch, right? Right on the lake, surrounded by trees, 2.5 hours away from our Chicago home, dogs allowed, beautiful cottage with tons of character. After just returning from a long weekend there, it lived up to every expectation we had and more. I'll start with the bad part (yes, singular) of our trip: the water has a strong sulfuric smell/taste. That's it. Buy a case of bottled water from the Piggly Wiggly just on the other side of the highway and you're all set. Other than that, be prepared for relaxation and beauty. Your cell phone will probably not work. Ours worked occasionally, but never when we asked them to. We were thrilled by this, and it made it so easy to relax. Other highlights: starry nights, fetch with dogs on the beach, shaded dirt roads (running!), Sheboygan restaurants, friendly neighbors, board games, patio sun, wave sounds through the open bedroom window, lazy rainy mornings, and so much character and charm in the cottage itself. I'd recommend this place to anyone. The bunk beds are small, so plan your party accordingly. Just don't expect to use your phone!"

  • Great Place

"Stayed for a week in this house this past July with my family of 5 (1 4 year old, 2 1 year olds) and truly enjoyed this retreat. Great location where you experience both the woods and the lakefront. Have access to both a great grass backyard and a great sandy beach where kids can play and enjoy the surroundings. All sand beach extends out at least 500 yards offshore. House is well outfitted with all the games and equipment you could want for a beach getaway. No AC but we found that completely unnecessary even though we had very warm weather during the day the week we were onsite. Highly recommend."

  • Great little gem!

"Host: Leslie was extremely accommodating, helpful suggestions on things to do - really putting in full effort to make you feel like this is your own home during your stay! Digs: located beautifully in the middle of the "downtown" area of Elkhart! Total walk ability for everything from restaurants - farmers market - coffee - lake :) The house is fully equipped with amenities! Everything you need is already there, just in case you forgot to pack it all. Beds are very comfy, I slept really well -- we all did. I will definitely stay here again, in fact I look forward to it! Well done Leslie! Thank you... Kettle morain is close by - great for nature seekers !"
