"This little gem is perfect for a stay in Door County. It is a simple little cottage but has all the things we needed for our first week long vacation as a family of 3 in September with our 8 month old. We did a lot of eating-in and the kitchen was well stocked, lots of clean towels for bathing, (the bathtub was a big plus with the baby in tow!) and the bed and couches were comfortable. The location is breathtaking and really the selling point for this place, we loved watching the sun set in the back yard as a family then putting the little one to bed and enjoying a glass (*bottle*) of wine from one of the nearby wineries, sitting around the little campfire listening to the water. It feels very private, nestled among the trees, although there are houses on either side, I think. I loved seeing the waves change with the weather; the day we got there it was stormy and the waves were so big they were crashing over the rocks and spraying the sitting area, but by the next morning there was a gentile lapping wave and you could (*carefully!*) walk onto the big rocks and sit there to enjoy watching the water. The day we left, the water in the bay was so calm it was dead silent except for a little fishing boat paddling along and a sailboat in the distance. Basically every room in the house has a view of the water which we loved as well. The location is also ideal for those traveling from the Chicago area, it's between Sturgeon Bay & Egg Harbor, only about a 10 minute drive to each, (with a nice fruit winery and the friendliest candle shop down the road in Carlsville on your way!) so it saves you overall drive time not having to make an extra hour trip to the tip of Door County. Again, shaving drive time off was ideal with a baby onboard. My only criticism would be that, being right on the water, there were some lake flies here and there, (not a bother to me, I'm used to it, growing up in the cornfields of IL,) and the humidity inside the cottage is a little strong. There is a dehumidifier that collected some water when we turned it on but didn't seem like it did too much so we didn't run it often, and the towels never really felt 100% dry when hanging, but again, you're staying on a lake and it's a cottage, not a mansion like some you see driving down the road, so just keep your expectations in check. It's for sure a step up from a cabin or camping and I really don't think the photos on the website do it justice. We would stay there again, 5/5! Thanks Pat!"
