  • This place is the BEST!!

"My husband I stayed at Whispering Winds Aug 5-10. When we drove up to the cabin with its private drive, we knew we were going to love it here. Our 2 dogs came with and were able to enjoy themselves off leash without worrying about neighbors looking on. We took long walks morning and night in the woods on the property. There is a mulch path you can take, but we were interested in exploring. Picked up tons of wood for the campfire. No need to buy any. The wrap around deck is wonderful. We used the Weber grill for dinner. Do bring your own charcoal and stick matches. We had left over and left our bag behind for the next campers. The grounds are kept clean. Inside there are 3 sliding doors allowing you to access any part of the deck, also great for the evening breeze. The kitchen was very well equipped with spices etc. utensils, pots and pans. In fact we forgot to bring tooth pics and bought some in town, well upon exploring the lazy susan and all the spices there was a large jar filled with tooth pics! There is a nice coffee pot and also a tea pot. The ceiling fan in the living room really moves the air and the cabin also has 2 stand up oscillating fans. One upstairs and one down. The cabin doesn't have a musty smell. Very, very clean place. The location is close to everything. We went to Washington Island and it was a 30 min drive. Be sure to eat at Al Johnsons with the goats on the roof in Sister Bay. Go early though. Service is excellent as is the food. No waiting for our breakfast. In Ephraim go to Wilsons for ice cream and watch the sunset. We had lunch one day and you will NOT leave hungry! If your looking for peace and quiet this is the place. No traffic sounds, airplanes, people, nothing. Great place to decompress and enjoy the beauty of the woods. We never once turned on the tv and didn't miss is a bit. Oh! Jacksonport has a nice beach at Lakeside Park. Whitefish Dunes, is great for hiking and they have a beach on the south end that's just for dogs. North is for people. Our dogs had a blast and it wasn't busy either. Highly suggest going if your looking for a dog friendly beach. We had a wonderful experience and will be returning to this cabin again."

  • Even Better Than We Expected!!!

"We couldn't believe our eyes when we pulled into the drive ~ an absolutely adorable cottage in a quiet, private setting surrounded by trees and a large field full of wildlife. The inside was just as much of a pleasant surprise, clean and cozy and furnished with just enough of a country touch to make for a welcoming stay. Sharon was the perfect host as well, with her sidekick Jackson following to greet the four-legged guests (even if one of those guests was quite loud and rude). That was our third stay in beautiful Door County within a year, but it was far and away our favorite. Our goal is to make our next stay at Applewood Cottage as soon as possible!"

  • Great host, great cottage, great location!

"Everything was great about this cottage; the view, the breeze, the fireplace, the location. It had everything. Lyle was kind enough to bring us firewood, kindling, and newspaper for our fire. You can walk 200 feet to the main road, turn left or right, and within a three minute walk you can find coffee, food, or drinks. A truely great location. Not to mention a 5, 10, and 15 minute drive gets you to Ellison Bay, Sister Bay, and Ephraim!"

  • Vacation home within walking distance of downtown Baileys Harbor

"We recently stayed at the Bailey Boon in Baileys Harbor for a week. We found it to be a lovely home which is surrounded by trees on a quiet street and overlooks Lake Michigan. It is set back from Hwy 57 far enough that you don't get traffic noise, but close enough that it is a short walk to the downtown area and marina. The house is clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay (dishes, linens, pots, pans, gas grill, washer/dryer, etc.). The house was the perfect size for our group of six. I also found both the owner and the rental agent to be friendly and helpful. I would very much recommend Bailey Boon if you are staying in Door County and want a nice rental home on the east side of the peninsula."
